I am eagerly anticipating a well put together staff review. I've heard everything off of this except for the last song which is like 13 minutes long if I remember correctly.

Still not used to Mastodon's sound though, I could never get into it.

The only part about the whole album im disappointed with is the chorus to Quintessence.

Album isn't really as good as the hype - not a bad album in any way, but not the OMG Earth-shattering release everyone is making it out to be. It meanders a little too much in spots and no matter what anyone says, Troy groaning his way through a whole record is NOT "great vocals".This Message Edited On 03.18.09

Meh. I'll still take Leviathan over this album any day. It's not bad, but it's not THAT jizzworthy like this entire board is making it out to be. Maybe seeing this album live will change my opinions, but I'm obviously just not nearly as into the newer mastodon sound as the older. There's hardly any sweet ass Troy bellowing on this album at all...it just sorta plods along...where's any of the fast parts?
