Butch Walker Talks Coca-Cola Deal 2009-01-28 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 10 Comments | Butch Walker has spoken to Variety about his latest creation, the theme tune to Coca-Cola's upcoming ad campaign 'Open Happiness,' unveiled at Midem in Cannes last week.
Said the Georgia-born songwriter: "It’s a four minute song that I guess they’ll chop up into different lengths. It would have been dumb to get the offer and turn it down. I was told write an uptempo pop jam and that’s no different than what I normally do. It’s not like I was asked to write a song and mention the name of a product 20 times."
'Open Happiness' features, alongside Walker, an all-star cast of Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley), Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Brendon Urie (Panic At The Disco), Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes) and Janelle Monae. It was produced by Walker with fellow Georgian Polow Da Don.
