I wonder if the two songs in question are going to sound the same.
Sweet news nonetheless.

Wow, this band is so ridiculously pretentious...
Wavering Radiant? That's such a shitty title.
Who cares, I won't bother with this CD, it'll just be 10 tracks of droning guitar with no rhythm.

The first post on punknews.org's article for this news bit is the best thing I've seen in response:

Panopticon's an on-and-off dig for me - I always like it, but I can't come back to it very often. I'll be checking this out.

Qoute: ...it'll just be 10 tracks of droning guitar with no rhythm.
The drummer's sense of rythm is a bit "off". Same with Pelican. I wish this issue would be adressed by both bands. On the other hand, maybe they're aware of it and its simply their style. Boths bands have still put out stellar material.

Finally something other than warm weather to look forward to.

Doom rock outfit Isis will return May 5 with its new Ipecac album, "Wavering Radiant." The set will be released first on vinyl on April 21.
You missed a better article...
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/isis-rides-the-wave-on-new-album-1003933334.story
"Vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner tells Billboard.com the album is "perhaps a little more orchestral in feel" than its four predecessors. "There's more layers going on and more interplay between the instruments, rather than layering of parts," he says.
With band members no longer scattered between U.S. coasts, Isis was able to "work out some of the more subtle aspects of the songs" before hitting the studio. Tool guitarist Adam Jones wound up guesting on two as-yet-unnamed tracks.
"This is a better sonic representation of what the band actually sounds like. In the past I think some of the recordings were a little too clean in their final form," Turner says. "There was something about the energy that seemed to be lacking. It seems to feel more like us than anything else has."
After a handful of late 2008 shows in Europe, Isis will return to the road this spring. "If we can pull it together and find somebody agreeable to support, we'll probably do a support thing before the record drops, and then a headlining tour shortly after it comes out," Turner says. "We have European festivals in the summer, and that's as far as we've gotten."
Outside of Isis, Turner has "been working on what I guess is a solo project for the past number of years. I've done some shows and a couple of small releases with that."
He also contributed to an album from new Hydra Head band Mammifer, who asked him to become "a more concrete member of that project. They don't do a lot of touring, so I imagine I'll contribute to the recordings," he says.""
