No, the different Elements thing wasn't just Thrice. Remission was Fire themed, Leviathan was Water, Blood Mountain was Earth, and there's still slated to be an Air album unless they decided to scrap the idea. If you look at the logos for each album, there's a sign for each element the album represents.
Russia's pretty metal though. See the band Fuck Your Yankee Bluejeans for confirmation of this.
