Foo Fighters April Fool's 2008-04-03 by AtavanHalen | 16 Comments | From www.fasterlouder.com.au:
A New Zealand radio station The Rock turned out to be the only one laughing after it promoted a fake Foo Fighters gig to take place on 1 April.
The Rock talked up an intimate one-off showcase from the band at the Powerhouse venue, with the plan to have a Foo Fighters CD playing when the eager punters arrived at 8:15am on April Fools Day. Hilarious, right? According to Stuff.co.nz, the announcement was greeted by frenzied phone calls to the radio station’s office from people ready to secure sick leave, babysitters and yes, even flights. Record labels and promoters were also on the phone with a zillion questions. According to the station, more than 2000 people “could” have turned up to the gig, so they pulled the plug at the last minute.
Brad King, programme director for The Rock, has issued an official apology. The sheer numbers of the Foo faithful, he admitted, would’ve caused “absolute carnage.”
“This is what happens when fools plan April Fools jokes,” he added. “Word spreads beyond far and wide.”

pwned.
| | | Haha, thats pretty funny. What makes it even more humorous is that this all these people were so frantic to see the Foo Fighters...
| | | Man that would blow to be one of those people who booked a flight.
| | | lol so owned
| | | it would have been funnier if the show was on April Fools Day, and when they showed up, the crowd was rick rolled
| | | Nice! I went to a Washington Capitals game (hockey for the durrr dur durrrs) and the announced said if you are seated in section 106 check your seat for a golder sticker (they do these sorta promos for like free pizza, something like that so it wasn't out of the ordinary) and if you have it you win a brand new 20 inch TV (something like that) than said April Fools courtesy of the Capitals about 30 seconds later after everyone has been looking around. It was pretty humorous but not nearly as serious as this one.

This reminds me: Only 3 weeks left until I see The Fooeys live! Can't wait!
| | | I already saw them. It was good, they shifted into this acoustic circle stage half way through the concert, and played their mellow, better stuff (Marigold, My Hero, But Honestly, Cold Day In The Sun) It was great.
