More legal action on the internets abounds as Prince's legal team have initiated action against three fansites, instructing them to remove all pictures, images, lyrics, and artwork, lest they be shut down.
The sites in question are housequake.com, princefans.com, and prince.org. The owners, who believe that this is part of a wide crackdown on alleged violation of Prince's copyright, have formed Prince Fans United to defend themselves from what they see as 'a violation of their right to free speech'.
"Prince claims that fansites are not allowed to present any artwork with Prince's likeness, to the extent that he has demanded removal of fans' own photographs of their Prince-inspired tattoos and their vehicles displaying Prince-inspired license plates," says a statement at princefansunited.com. The site also notes that this is "an injustice to the very fans who have supported Prince's career, many since the very beginning." It is understood that Prince Fans United are prepared to go to court to defend their position and are confident of winning, as the images are covered by fair use.
An anonymous poster at princefansunited.com stated that "This current attack on fans and fansites seems to reverse a very positive move he has made in what always seemed like an effort to more closely embrace those fans." Another poster added a suggestion for another name for those sharing these views: "The Music Consumers formerly known as Prince Fans". Clearly a lot of people are very unhappy.
In other news, purple is the international colour of gay pride, and Prince's middle name is Rogers. Just sayin'.

I love Prince to death, he's really on of my biggest influences music wise, but Prince should've just gone away and been a recluse since the 90's, he still makes decent music for a man who peaked so long ago, but crap like this annoys me.
