can we chill with the cheeky news titles it’s getting a bit much.
also production still sounds like shit so pass.

I love tooting my horn as a degreed journalist...
As a degreed journalist I actually prefer the somewhat tongue-in-cheek headlines as long as they aren't like that overdose one we had a few weeks ago. Newswriting can be so dry, take your opportunities to shake it up a little bit.
|
| |
yeah but i just like wanna know stuff instead of having to figure out what some pun means.
this reads like they’re retiring even though it’s the exact opposite of that.
|
| |
Rob Lowe at home looking ass actor.
|
| |
I enjoyed the click-baiting title because it reflects their recent musical output pretty well
|
| |
good post i agree
|
| |
I prefer writing the occasional intentionally-cheeky headline versus the 1000th "New X album/single" headline. Sorry not sorry.
|
| |
You fooled me.
|
| |
y u gotta be that dude
also song is okay
|
| |
Song rules, band fucking rules, last album ruled, this album will also rule
Also I don't really see the production stopping me from jerking off to this album
Also I love the tongue in cheek titles, it makes me chuckle
|
| |
poop song poop production
|
| |
This song fucks
|
| |
Hype and Demon ily both but band has been on fire in recent years. Last album is one of my fav dm albums of the 2020s so far.
|
| |
What Hawks said
|
| |
Enjoyed the last one a lot. This track seems like a below average for me but I'll probably change my mind down the road. Ordered the nice blue vinyl just in case I do really like this lol
|
| |
regarding the article title, to me as long as it conveys '[Band] has an update of some kind' I'll be interested in finding out more if I care about the band.
|
| |
The punny titles stay.
|
| |
Really consistently good band in spite of their usually mediocre vocalists.
|
| |
Matt's vox have gotten way better imo.
The Unspoken King, s/t and ...And Then You'll Beg are awful but everything else they've done is top notch. The Tome EPs are super underappreciated.
|
| |
music is good but the mix is so harsh I can barely hear anything
|
| |
"can we chill with the cheeky news titles it’s getting a bit much."
No, we can’t. Articles with cheeky or creative headlines consistently attract more attention and clicks. Plus, Sputnikmusic actively encourages writers to avoid generic titles. As stated in the guidelines:
"Don't be lazy and use 'New [Bandname] Album/Track.' Grab a thesaurus."
That alone can be challenging, especially with the strict character limits we’re working with.
|
| |
Not sure what the sputnerds are complaining about. The last Cryptopsy album was fire and the new single slaps
|
| |
"can we chill with the cheeky news titles it’s getting a bit much."
this questions been being asked for over a decade lol
|
| |
The only one I’ve checked out is None So Vile and I know not to compare any of their other ones with what is a classic in the genre. What should I look at next?
|
| |
blasphemy made flesh
|
| |
^ my personal favorite
|
| |
The Tome EP's are also very good.
|
| |
Dont like this at all.
|
| |
rips
|
| |
I enjoyed the click-baiting title because it reflects their recent musical output pretty well [2]
Band needs to break up
|
| |
No they don't lmao.
|
| |
Yeah saying that they need to break up when they're finally on fire again after the entire 2000's era is such a fucking stupid take lol
|
| |
quick turnaround by these guys
|
| |
Honestly fantastic, everything since and including the Tome EPs has been top-tier
|
| |
The only things this band really put out that I didn't like is unspoken king and once was not
|
| |
true
|
| |
once was not is underrated
|
| |
yeah but i just like wanna know stuff instead of having to figure out what some pun means. [2]
|
| |
Once Was Not is one of my favs.
|
| |
--I prefer writing the occasional intentionally-cheeky headline versus the 1000th "New X album/single" headline. Sorry not sorry.---
This exactly. We've actually had internal discussions about changing News post headlines when the entire front page was "New X album/single" headlines.
|
| |
willie hath spoken. ill never mention it again!
|
| |
Idk at least you get the information you want with the clone trooper headlines. This one is misleading
|
| |
... and if these types of headlines start to get out of hand and go too far, we'll probably push for more generic ones again. Sputnik is nothing if not unpredictable (despite its entirely stagnate nature).
|
| |
this particular news headline probably would be fine if "Nothing Left" were capitalised, indicating that it is the name of a new song/album, etc. although the title is still pretty poor imo because the song is "Until There's Nothing Left" which implies there IS in fact something left
|
| |
Yeah I was thinking that too. Capitalizing it would've solved most problems.
In any case it's not a big deal
|
| |
"Don't be lazy and use 'New [Bandname] Album/Track.' Grab a thesaurus."
So we get "[Band Name] is [Song Title]" headlines instead. So creative. Lol
|
| |
You are the WHAT
|
| |
cryptopsy insisting on sticking to this modern core-adjacent production style when there's been a death metal renaissance truly baffles me.
what makes their discog so inconsistent is that none so vile was the only time there was a true synthesis between concept and execution.
|
| |
song slaps
|
| |
“In any case it's not a big deal”
life would be pretty boring without meaningless bullshit to complain about lol
|
| |
"So we get "[Band Name] is [Song Title]" headlines instead. So creative. Lol"
The fuck you expect? Pulitzer-level headlines? We’ve got 40 characters to work with and half these bands have names that eat up most of that.
|
| |
@dizchu
Same. I don't understand it. Songwriting-wise i like a lot of their new stuff just fine but definitely not a big fan of the production
|
| |
I can get past the production because the music fucking slaps dude
These guys, Dying Fetus, Suffocation and a few other old school death metal bands are kicking so much ass now, it's such a fantastic timeline (basically only for this and nothing else lol)
|
| |
Balance in all things.
|
| |
Song absolutely rips m/
Production is a bit loud and disorienting but I kinda dig it
|
| |
I don't mind the production at all but I can see the complaints tbh lol.
|
| |
"life would be pretty boring without meaningless bullshit to complain about lol"
My man! 🤝
|
| |
Olivier's now left Cattle Decapitation to focus on Cryptopsy
|
| |
"Once Was Not is one of my favs." Indeed! Such an underrated album.
Wasn't a fan of their last album but I gotta say this song is kind of a return to form for my ears. Combining the sound of both Books of Suffering (which I love) with their modern approach is something I can really get behind
|
| |
Once was Not was where this bands discog ends.
|
| |
