That's a shame. I wasn't enthralled with their releases after Piotr's death, but they were still solid at minimum. Band had a really long streak of consistently great albums all the way from founding until at least Piotr's passing.

Damn, that's a massive blow. He was basically the most crucial member alongside Piotr... and I think he's right, there's pretty much no way the band could carry on past his departure. Well, at least they leave behind a great discog

I've said it elsewhere: I'm so sad about this. Love Riverside, love Mariusz's composing abilities. At least we still have Lunatic Soul.
|
| |
Horrible news man!! Sadly it’ll probably be difficult for the band to really continue in any meaningful way without Mariusz since he was such a big part of the band’s sound. It seems he had a falling out with one member, which could either be Piotr or Michal. Really sucks

Upset about this ngl
|
| |
Not happy about this one.
|
| |
This is a real shame, and it doesn't sound like an amicable split either. The band have struggled to continue after Piotr Grudziński's death so I can't see them continuing at all without Mariusz.
|
| |
as much as i really like him as a musician it's deeply conceited to leave a band and insist there's no way they can function without him. he should have said nothing about the band continuing and allowed them to make their own decision.
|
| |
Yeah we were probably lucky to get those post-Piotr albums, honestly.
|
| |
actually listening to riverside while reading this. i havent been too invested in them for about ten years now, so i guess the band is over now
|

" At least we still have Lunatic Soul."
not going anywhere m8
yeah last album was...uninspired. Can't say I have enjoyed much LS either lately, so unsure all in all
|

I guess now is the time I finally check out Lunatic Soul. Been meaning to for a long time.
|
| |
I actually only know him for Lunatic Soul so might be time to check out his actual band. Or what was

I can agree with this--saying that was unnecessary. While yes, it will be difficult to replace him, it's not impossible; a statement like that just makes him look like a prick. He normally seems pretty laid back so it kinda comes from left field.
|
| |
He was the main songwriter and the other main songwriter died. . . well
|
| |
i mean i agree with him if he's the main writer tbh, but also maybe it was unnecesary
|
| |
it doesn't matter how 'true' it is, it's just a dick move to shit on the musicians you worked with and demean their contributions and ability to play in a band. you just don't say that - it's conceited and disrespectful.
|
| |
He could also be referring to legal obstacles to them continuing w/o him, to be fair. Don't know what the rights splits look like for their situation.
|
| |
if he isn't willing to go into detail he shouldn't say anything because it just creates speculation and looks really disrespectful. i've lost respect for him. that said i'm just a guy on the internet so i don't expect him to lose sleep over that fact.

I hear what you guys are saying. Sucks that it had to go down like this, I love Mariusz but he seems to have a bit of Steven Wilson syndrome, and has main character energy. He was pretty much the main songwriter and band leader so I understand where he’s coming from
I’m just glad I saw them live while Piotr G was still alive, and one time after. Gonna miss these guys hard, even though the albums after Piotr died weren’t that great
