Ancient Death tease ego dissolution

Massachusetts death metal outfit Ancient Death, has uploaded a new song at its official Bandcamp location.

Titled "Breaking the Barriers of Hope", the cut is precursor to the band's upcoming first album Ego Dissolution, due out on April 18 through Profound Lore imprint.

sweet track. wish the kick drum had the same ~chonk~ it did on sacred vessel but alas i'm pumped. sacred vessel is one of my fav death/doom EPs in recent memory so i've got high hopes for this

to my ears it sounds like they were going for an untriggered drum kit but forgot that you have to actually hit the drums hard when they’re just mic’d up.

not a bad track but the drums are distracting.

Yeah, this is the perennial conundrum (sic).

Without triggers, metal drumming is weak most of the time.

With triggers, drums sound like shit, most of the time.

I like the guitar work in this one. The production / drums sound pretty much exactly as I would expect for bands trying to emulate the whole early death metal era sound.
