Not hearing much new here for now, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah, I'm not sure why a new band was needed. This sounds almost identical to SOP.

Well it's like it says in their Bandcamp bio: "(...) Spawn Of Possession was put to rest back in 2017. But as decreed by the laws of death metal, you can’t bury what’s already undead. Like an especially pungent spore, the seeds of SOP have been festering underground, waiting to come alive and haunt the earth in the form of an even more ghastly mutation. Such is the sordid origin story behind RETROMORPHOSIS. (...)"

Maybe their main songwriter is a perfectionist and feels that the new material isn't good enough for SOP.

Yes, looking forward to the other tracks

It definitely has some SoP vibes but it's not just SoP 2.0. Feels like they leaned more into the deathy area than techy imo. Wasn't blown away by it tbh but still very hyped for the record

The Muenzner leads are taking this down imho, they sound like Incurso leftovers. They should bring in someone like Karlsson for some proper deranged & ulgy lead work. I hope it's only this track tho.
