Not too bad! Definitely better than most of Atonement at least so I'll be intrigued to check the album out overall.

Song absolutely rules. Was skeptical about the mix first listen but it's growing on me quick. Jesse sounds better than ever and I love that clean ending.
Stoked for the album!
| |
pretty good song, im surprised to have enjoyed it as much as i did
| |
The bass tone tho dayummm
| |
it sounds like every single lifeless wank metalcore band, absolute dregs of art
| |
With a title like that I’m betting someone in the band married a chiropractor.
| |
This sure is a Killswitch song in 2024 alright.
| |
A very status quo Jesse 2.0 KSE song which means it’s good and I like it but it’s not great. I preordered the vinyl.
| |
This is not it. Riffs are super lame. They've done this before, much better. They will never release anything as good as the material on ALOB-ADD
| |
While not as good as those three albums, I thought disarm the descent was super solid and a worthy addition to the catalogue.
| |
bland asf
| |
Verse riff is really weak, chorus and bridge are solid if nothing new
| |
This kinda blows.
| |
I like it, I definitely enjoyed it, however after listening on and off to this type of music for over 20 years it’s very difficult to sound new fresh and different. I suppose as I get older all of it just sounds the same essentially and bleeds together…
| |
No riffs. This is extremely vapid even by modern KSE standards. We must of heard this chorus a million times over by now.
| |
pretty average, but kinda cool they're still going. One of my favorite bands back in the day
| |
Hoping this is the weakest song on the album. Sometimes singles be like that.
| |
The band sounded rejuvenated when Jessie rejoined and they put out Disarm the Decent but it's been diminishing returns since that point. AOJB will always be a metalcore classic though, cant take that away from them.
| |
I've never understood the hype with this band. Some of their earlier stuff is decent but the best metalcore band ? I just can't buy it.
| |
Agreed. Band has always been overrated.
| |
this was such a let down, mix suboptimal as well...
| |
Solid song. The mix, like most modern metal, is whack. Song would be pretty killer had it been recorded via 2004’s Heartache production.
| |
I’m still just in abject shock about the mix given that Adam basically defined the sound of the genre at one point. Seriously wondering if he’s struggling with hearing loss or something.
| |
Sounds like it was based off of "Loyalty," their song for game of thrones. Hope the whole album sounds like this.
| |
Yeah I dunno why it’s so hard to replicate the sonics of heartache, daylight or even AOJB. Haven’t been a big fan of the production with the past couple of albums. Like, it’s technically good and polished, but the band would benefit from having a beefier and more aggressive mix.
| |
Problem with this mix is the guitars. You can barely hear them
| |
This just went in one ear out the other. I miss the anthemic hooks of their earlier records.
| |
Same Zack, same. The magic is missing (and has been for a couple album cycles now). There’s a critical ingredient to the recipe gone and I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is. Makes me sad. I wonder if it’s Howard, but I’m not convinced these later albums would be fixed by just switching out vocalists. I’m just glad I still have the older records to go back to.
| |
It’s not Howard. Alive or Barely Breathing was their best effort. The missing ingredient is hunger and sincerity. Hard to find the same level of effort when you’ve already made it and living a comfortable life (i.e. almost every famous band of all time).
| |
Yeah true. The sheer passion element and the vigor of youth lol. Some types of music lend themselves well to the aging process but I guess metalcore really ain’t one of them. At least the band hasn’t gotten bad. Just a dip in quality. I’ll still support and listen to everything they put out.
| |
the cruel reality is these kinds of bands can rarely maintain the level of passion they had on their first 3-4 albums. It's not really surprising, burn-out is real. I'll check the album at least once for old time's sake but expectations are low
| |
Pretty sure Jesse mentioned in a recent interview he was renting still. Not exactly sure he’s rolling in it. I’d expect Adam to be the most financially stable member of the band, but he has a whole other income stream
| |
Pretty much every band has a peak, in terms of songwriting, riffs, inspiration, creativity, energy etc. KSE are just way, way past their peak. If a band doesn't elvove their sound we usually get the bland iterative dross we find here.
