New Poison The Well LP

2024-09-29 by StrizzMatik | 33 Comments
Longtime metalcore / post-hardcore legends Poison The Well are currently in the process of recording an as yet untitled new LP, their first in over 15 years since 2009's The Tropic Rot. The band recently released a box set of colored vinyl pressing of their entire discography, which included a note to the fans announcing the new record. The band graciously posted the note for those who didn't have the $200 to drop on the box set:

“Hey,
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has ever contributed to the history of Poison The Well. Your unwavering support over the years means the world to us. Special thanks to those who helped contribute to this release. While it’s impossible to name every single person, please know that we hold dear every bit of support with heartfelt appreciation. Without you, there would be no Poison The Well.

“Your Friends
PTW

“Thank you for helping celebrate our entire discography. Think of it as a little something to tide you over as we work on our first new studio album in over 15 years. We can’t wait to share that with you.”

Yeah they announced this like a month or two ago but oh well

I can't be mad because Tropic Rot is one of my favorite albums ever and I am *STOKED* for this, I'm just a little disappointed this wasn't like a title or release date or something

Fabulous news! Was lucky enough to see them at Outbreak this year and they were easily one of the highlights.

Tropic Rot is one of the most underrated metalcore albums of all time, there isn't really anything that sounds like it. Cautiously optimistic about this.

Versions is honestly a masterpiece of a record, incredibly underrated even compared to Tropic Rot. The varied instrumentation, Morricone/Western influence and wicked Tele tones just do it for me

Versions definitely needs a revisit soon.

Also not really sure why nobody talks about Tear From the Red. Some good shit on that album.

Versions could do with a remix, there's some odd production choices in there but it's still a banger record. TFTR has some absolute bops for sure. I see it as a bit of a transitional record between their metalcore origins and the more Refused-leaning post-hardcore sound on YCBY. I wonder if Derek is going to be involved with the new record? He still plays with Ryan in Sleigh Bells and had a massive influence on the songwriting pre-Versions, especially YCBY

Fuck yes!!

Is there anything we can hear atm?? Or are they just letting us know a thing is coming?

Tropic Rot was pretty underrated imo

Nothing yet. This note came with the vinyl discog boxset they released a couple months back so I'd be surprised if we didn't hear at least something by year's end, depending on how they choose to release it.
