QOTSA Desperate To Record 2007-10-18 by Neoteric | 8 Comments | Josh Homme has said he is desperate to record a new album as he's so pleased with the band's new line-up.
The group may record an EP before producing a follow-up to Era Vulgaris it has been said.
Homme told Billboard: "Queens sounds better than it ever has live, but we're trying to figure out how to tour and how to [write and record], 'cause I think for everyone right now the idea of creating something is even more enticing than going on the road.
"This line-up feels like we could basically blow through a whole record quick."
The current incarnation of the group features longterm members Troy Van Leeuwen and Joey Castillo, and new members Michael Shuman and The Raconteurs' Dean Fertita alongside Homme.
After mentioning that he'd like to record an EP or two before embarking on work on a new album, Homme explained: "The difficult thing is to bend other people to your will. Songs need to have a home. If you just record them, they've got no destination, no home."
The frontman also said that the band may put out a live DVD or album to document their live approach.
He said: "It would be a crime not to. I don't think we've touched the tip of the iceberg of what we're able to do now. We should really be stretching as far as possible."

I never tried to even get Era Vulgaris. I have actually not listened to QOTSA in so long.

I love QOTSA, but Era Vulgaris was pretty much a let down. I hope they put out a follow up soon so they can clean up the stains of their last album.

Era Vulgaris was a write off... with the exception of about 2 tracks.

Interscope should hurry and release Desert Sessions box set, Queen's Self Titled and this new EP.

Queens are brilliant but only their last three (and the live DVD/album) are good. Rated R sucked but Era Vulgaris is a great album. Constant and entertaining.
I do wanna hear the Desert Sessions and releasing a box set would be great and I would definently buy it.

the dessert sessions NEEDS to come out... and i think that they need to do an album like they did lullabies to paralyze or songs for the deaf ..those were amazing albums....i agree i just downloaded R and it wasnt as good...era vulgaris had a couple good songs i think but yeah it seemed to be missing something
