thank u for making a news article about this! i'm on the edge of my seat here.
| |
well i’ll be fuckin damned
| |
This is genuinely the best music news I have ever received in my life and it is not even close
| |
hol up why does it say that im waiting for it to premier, is it out already or nah?
| |
I am frothing at the mouth
| |
Nah midnight yr time Nikkolae
| |
Absolutely stellar track, haven’t missed a beat. Geoff sounds massive here.
| |
song is great omg
| |
Holy shit those screams towards the end. Absolute banger.
They haven't missed a beat.
| |
ngl i'm shedding a tear rn. this is great.
| |
Love the end + guitar lines throughout the song. Not crazy about the corny lyrics and Geoff really struggling on the high notes. Very excited for Thursday restarting though, they were awesome live for WATT's anniversary
| |
Those screams are unbelievable oh my fucking god lmao
| |
in 13 years huh? Song is pretty great.
| |
Ah, no wonder so many people were talking about Thursday on our main site.
| |
the instrumental is pretty good, Geoff's voice production is a bit weird imo and that kinds of kills it for me
| |
:')
| |
Damn, they picked up right where they left off after 13 years. Absolutely awesome. Really hope this means a new album in their future
| |
yeah this sounds like a super natural evolution for them, I love it
| |
Not sure about all the "we're your small band" - you betcha, you ARE a fucking small band.
That said, the track is pretty excellent, and got chills all the way through.
| |
released on Friday smh
| |
Yeah, I feel they haven’t missed a beat. I’m normally skeptical when bands release new music after a long break as 9 times out of 10, the music they release doesn’t hold up to their legacy (I.e. At The Drive-In and Refused). However, this feels like an evolution for the band picking up from where they left off with No Devolucion, almost as if they haven’t been away.
I do wonder if the music Funeral for a Friend are supposedly writing will evoke similar feelings, but given that Matt's left I imagine I’ll be skeptical until I actually hear the music when it’s released.

Mmmmmm 20 y.o. me is stoked, this is great. Good to see they're still writing at least, was wondering how much longer they were going to flog Full Collapse and WATT for more $$
| |
I think I saw an interview where Geoff said that they were always writing stuff, but they didn’t want to release anything unless it held up next to their older material which thankfully this does.
| |
Wow, incredible song
| |
“Not sure about all the "we're your small band" - you betcha, you ARE a fucking small band.”
Shutup babydick
| |
this rules
| |
I was 19 when they last released new music and I turn 32 next week.
The song rules and I was of course hoping for implications of more, and it seems up in the air so I’ll take the possibility
| |
Song was p gud, great as far as a first new song in god knows how long it has been since the last one. Still bumming that their keyboardist isn't part of the process anymore, I loved his touch on the music. This doesn't seem to vear too much from the course No Devolucion took, though
| |
holy fuck this is good
i always love Geoff's lyrics so much
| |
ending of the song is so good...
| |
ngl but this song was very mid
and I'm a massive thursday fan
| |
Surprised to see new music, not surprised they are still awesome.
| |
This was okay, glad they're releasing again - chorus has legs, but the rest ain't quite selling me (and agreed with whoever said these lyrics are corny for Geoff, who is usually well above water)
| |
lyrics don't hold up to what Geoff is capable of [what are we at]
| |
Pika and the NPR reject don’t like it so it’s clear this is a winner of a track
| |
copa bein a pissbitch so u know it must suck ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
| |
Holy shit this made my week!
Great song. Hope there is an album in the works
The section at 3:20 feels like a nod to AFI Miseria Cantera lol
| |
Chorus is fantastic but yeah unexpectedly corny lyrics and Geoff sounds kinda off in the verses
| |
The second I care about your opinion I’ll let you know, smok. Enjoy listening to music and liking none of it bb. Have you ever considered logging off the computer and touching grass, or do actually enjoy spending your entire day on the worst music review site?
| |
Thought this was kind of meh tbh
| |
Sound like a No Devotion song.
| |
most NPC "i don't care, but [multiple lines of seethe]" post i've seen a hot minute lol. no fun being an indignant lil piss baby if you've got all the spice of a mumsnet admin
| |
Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to, cool to hear Geoff again.
| |
Cope-atorium
| |
This was just ok. Bridge felt kinda tacked on
| |
This might be the worst song they've ever released
| |
Nah it's pretty great
| |
idk about worst, i _really_ love that chorus
| |
"The second I care about your opinion I’ll let you know, smok. Enjoy listening to music and liking none of it bb. Have you ever considered logging off the computer and touching grass, or do actually enjoy spending your entire day on the worst music review site?"
Says the guy using the same website and commenting on it just like any other user. Never makes sense when people say some dumb shit like that.
| |
In my opinion, No Devolucion was the perfect album to end on and I've always felt like I'd rather not have them write anything else if it didn't match or exceed the quality of that album. Regarding the recent release, it seems like I'm in the minority because I didn't think it was really anything too special.
| |
Geoff struggling with the high notes? He hasn't missed a beat.
Welcome back, Thursday.
| |
"Sound like a No Devotion song."
I wish lol. If this was on no devolucion it would be the worst song on the album ngl
| |
no devotion is a band with Thursday's vocalist lol
no devolucion is the last Thursday album
| |
Hmm i should jam this and then Devotion
| |
lyrics are kinda corny, but i honestly respect the earnestness of it this late in their career
did remind me a bit of U2 though lol
| |

good thing smok doesn’t know how to read or else his feelings might have been really hurt
| |
"Sound like a No Devotion song."
yeah pree much, but i love No Devotion so im cool with it, also lol have they really been without a lable for that long? werent they on Epitaph for the last couple of releases?
| |
This song is just short of beautiful. Maybe in time it will bloom.
| |
Was not a fan after the 1st spin, but I feel like it's growing after a couple more.
I'm curious to see what they come up with. Like it was said above, No Devolucion felt like a proper farewell album and great ending point for them. Hopefully they'll channel the same inspiration that Alexisonfire did with "Otherness"* and come back with a banger
| |
wow im a terrible thursday fan i forgot to jam this
| |
that was great
and otherness is goated yeah
| |
Amazing song
| |
Yeah really good
| |
I'm hoping this isn't a one off, but we'll see how things go. I just think its cool ghat they're doing something musically alongside playing shows.
Also cool to have Norm from Texas Is The Reason involved - Do You Know Who You Are? is possibly the best Midwest Emo album of that era.
| |
early 2000s emo kids rejoice
| |
Eh. It's mostly fine. Ending is great. Guitars are probably the best thing here for me, they sit in the mix very well. I don't think Geoff sounds too bad too.
| |
"they really been without a lable for that long? werent they on Epitaph for the last couple of releases?"
They've been WITH a label for that long. First release w/o since before Waiting in 1999.
| |
Thursday singles always hit harder in the context of the album. This is great but I imagine it'll be unbelievable mixed in with some like-minded tunes.
