Alcest Unveil New Single

2024-02-23 by oneeyedfanatic | 36 Comments
Alcest have unveiled the first single from their forthcoming album "Les Chants de l’Aurore", out on June 21st, along with an animated music video produced by Yoann Lossel, who also made the album art.

Neige states:

"'L'Envol' is a musical return to the atmosphere of Alcest's first albums. I wrote this song after an inspiring trip to Corsica, where I met amazing people and was surrounded by some of the most unique landscapes I have ever seen. It is about escaping from earthly reality to join a flock of mythical birds flying through the known boundaries of our world. The song is accompanied by a music video created by the talented French artist Yoann Lossel, who also designed the album cover. For this first single release, we wanted the music, lyrics and visuals to be as coherent and immersive as possible. All the tracks on Les Chants de l'Aurore are very different from one another, but we thought this one would be a great introduction to the overall atmosphere and themes of the album."

The tracklist for the album is as follows:
1 - Komorebi
2 - L’Envol
3 - Améthyste
4 - Flamme Jumelle
5 - Réminiscence
6 - L’Enfant de la Lune (月の*)
7 - L’Adieu

That was delightful! I've mostly just jammed Shelter over the years and the addition of all the atmosphere makes me excited to see where this album goes.

This is giving me 90's vibes. 4:25 onwards probably is his Goo Goo Dolls - Iris moment.

The guitar textures are immaculate as usual. I can only think of a few others that do them better.

A bit boring, I really enjoyed the riffs in Spiritual, this is a step back.

I mean, it reminds me of Kodoma's title track a bit, I think they are leading off with a cozy single. I'm willing to bet there will a couple more aggressive, riff-focused tracks on the album.

yeah i used to find winterhalter's style of drumming a bit dull but he's really come alive since kodama onwards.

The early parts of the song are the best and I think it goes a little sideways near the end, but still very good. Music video is GREAT.

"Wow, we are so back." [2]

Had no idea about this until I got the notification for the new single today, but this song has been the best surprise of the year so far.

I was ready to give up on them after Spiritual Instinct as I never thought Nuclear Blast would allow them to make beautiful music again, but here we are. This is vintage Alcest and I'm so excited for the new album.
