The Classic Crime New LP

2023-03-17 by Your #1 Most Loved Semiaquatic, Egg-Laying Mammal | 34 Comments
Alternative rock/pop punk band The Classic Crime have announced their upcoming seventh album, GRIM • AGE, which is scheduled to release on March 31. The band has released two singles so far: 'RAGEBOI' (which was more of an album teaser rather than a proper single) and 'END OF EVERYTHING.' Both singles can be heard below.

According to the band's website: "Written during COVID-19 lockdowns, GRIM AGE is a pilgrimage through a landscape of anger in the face of physical and virtual balkanization and loneliness. It attempts to name the feeling of "right now," struggling against the coercion of social algorithms and the distraction of media to arrive at the simplicity of a life well lived from the perspective of the end."

The album was funded via a Kickstarter campaign that launched in 2020.

Tracklist:
1. RAGEBOI
2. RIGHT NOW
3. END OF EVERYTHING
4. ALONE IN THE CITY
5. INTO THE EARTH
6. THE OLD WAYS
7. STAY IN LOVE
8. WHAT YOU RUN FROM
9. NEW NOISE
10. LOST MAGIC
11. HIGH MILEAGE

Yeah I don't wanna get my hopes up TOO high but this is looking like a super solid release so far. And only two weeks away!

Holy crap! It's been ages. What an early-Sput blast from the past this band was. 2010 must have been the last time I was jamming their first couple albums. Decent Tooth and Nail Records fare. Had a soft spot for them back then, I'll have to check this out.

Wait...they released albums in 2017 and 2020? Those totally flew under my radar.

"Every band is coming back"? They never left or went anywhere. Been releasing independently since 2012 with four LPs and an acoustic greatest hits type album. The new album has been announced since March 2 and a new project was being teased publicly since Feb 8.

The pre-order for the new record is still open for two more weeks with a few vinyl variants still with some quantity left - www.theclassiccrime.com

it's insane how good Rageboi is! quite dynamic for a 60-second track.

but yeah, I'm officially stoked for this. funny timing since I was just thinking about this band the other day

This band played the Tooth and Nail tour when I was in 8th grade with Anberlin, Emery, and Jonezetta. And I think Far-Less?

Haven't listened to them in years but that was one of my first shows ever so I still think about them all the time.

"Wait...they released albums in 2017 and 2020? Those totally flew under my radar."

they're pretty skippable. "Before I Woke Up" and the title cut on Patterns in the Static are good but you can pretty safely ignore the rest

both of these tracks are bangers though, extremely excited

"Anberlin, Emery, and Jonezetta. And I think Far-Less?"

high school me would have absolutely died to be at that show

I'd take issue with it tbh if not for the fact that it's a ripper

"why on God's green earth would you ever name a song RAGEBOI"

Taken from TCC's facebook "RAGEBOI was a working title for the demo. Normally it would have been changed, but the song felt purely instinctual. There were no changes in pre-production, the first idea was the last idea, so we kept the name."

"high school me would have absolutely died to be at that show"

In a couple weeks I'm seeing The Classic Crime open for Emery, who's playing In Shallow Seas We Sail in its entirety. High school lives on!

No fucking way! Does Devin still not perform with them live? Cause if he did, a pro recording of one of the shows would pop offfff

^That's a good question, I don't know. I'm sure some footage of their shows will pop up! The show I'm going to is on April 2nd so start checking Youtube sometime after that.

Ahh yes the poor man’s Emery. JK JK. Love these guys. Big PRT of my HS. Their 2017 album was good, not sure about the most recent release. None of that matters tho cuz End of Everything is gorgeous.

Ehh loses steam over time, gets lost in the ballads and starts to blend together. Still an overall improvement but nothing approaches the energy of "RAGEBOI," which is admittedly pretty disappointing. Teases a darker, aggressive lane that it refuses to commit to.

@MarsKid - I mostly agree with everything you said. 3-4 songs in, I was genuinely wondering if this would be a 5. It definitely loses some steam in the middle though, but I think the ending was fantastic.
