Count me in.

20 new SP songs sounds like hell at this point
| |
An animated series? Interesting. I hope it's good.
Enjoying the colour of love.
| |
I guess you can never accuse these guys of being lazy. Unfortunately I just don't think I'll have the stamina to make it through this
| |
That's some good track titles
| |
Would love if this was decent. I guess he’s going to be tying this in to the Machina reissue, seeing as how he’s revisiting the animated series idea. Could be cool!
| |
Double the albums, Double the songs, Double the ego.
| |
Lol a double album at this stage of their career? Billy really don't give a fuck.
| |
holy fuck this aint good
| |
Supremely concerned that they seem to be going hard into this electro-pop sound, the whole album better not sound like this
| |
I think I'm gonna pass on this album... and I've heard all Pumpkins albums up to this point :/
| |
if you've heard all Pumpkins at this point, you have all the right and all the reason to skip this one
| |
I’m into it
| |
I'll listen. Why not. Mellon Collie is my favorite album of all time. Not sure about that electro-pop sound either, but I'll stream it.
| |
I came for the Alex Jones lyrics I’m staying for the memes
| |
songs are decent
| |
Sumerian lmao
| |
Such a shame that the art deco opulence album art for the last LP wasn't on something with fittingly grand music.
| |
yeah sumerian is a bit of an oddball lol
| |
gonna be another trainwreck
| |
20 SP songs means better chances that a few of them will be great
| |
That’s how I’m looking at it too neek. Every album since the breakup has had some worthwhile stuff on it imo. I think he’s still capable of surprising, even if Cotillions was wildly uneven and overlong it had a few of his best tracks in a decade-plus imo
| |
This isn't 1995, Billy Corgan...
| |
Not sure what it says about me but I liked all 3 of these songs
| |
Oh god this is current news. Retire already you little weirdo.
| |
"Not sure what it says about me but I liked all 3 of these songs"
Nothing that hasn't already been said babe
| |
Think I'll pass. 20 tracks? No way buddy.
| |
I'm not surprised. It is Billy Corgan after all. Poor guy.
| |
u little weirdo [2]
| |
Billy has wanted an animated series with his music for quite some time now. God dammit. Well, I'm gonna watch it and it will most likely be torture. I also bought the limited edition purple double vinyl on their website yesterday, because i am a glutton for disappointment and sorrow
| |
Minerva is the song that made me discover Deftones.
| |
wonder if side b is djent
| |
Please god let it be.
| |
Side B will mostly be promoting his wrestling company and conspiracy theories.
| |
"20 SP songs means better chances that a few of them will be great"
My thoughts exactly
| |
In theory it would be awesome if every band had 20 songs for their new album. I remember when Biffy did it that was some major fun hype
| |
They haven’t had a good record in 20 years but they’re going to release a double album anyway.
Okay.
| |
02 Confessions of a Dopamine Addict
Jesus christ lmao.
| |
I love SP, but I can't imagine sitting through 20 tracks of new material from them.
Also does anyone else find it really annoying when a band does a "Part 1" of something they seemingly have no intention of releasing a "Part 2" of?
| |
yeah congleton w e ‘ r e w a i t i n g
| |
If anything I don't think billy is getting enough dopamine
| |
They couldn't pull off a double LP in their heyday lmao bet this'll be great
| |
"Also does anyone else find it really annoying when a band does a "Part 1" of something they seemingly have no intention of releasing a "Part 2" of?"
90% of their discog is Billy not following through on his plans
| |
"They haven’t had a good record in 20 years but they’re going to release a double album anyway.
Okay."
This, hard.
| |
Love the ambition, hate the songs. This is not my lover, this is zero.
| |
"They haven’t had a good record in 20 years but they’re going to release a double album anyway.
Okay." [3]
| |
also, the artwork with these announcements is similar to the last album so I'm guessing he's gonna say this is Vol. 2/3 at some point
| |
Can't wait for this
The first 2 tracks were fantastic
| |
anotha one
| |
if I was Billy Corgan I would buy an assortment of silly wigs and rotate them in and out as I release different albums
shitposts aside cyr has me excited for this at least
| |
just bothered listening to Cyr and oh wow it's actually pretty good. if it were to grow on me i would probably love it.
| |
oh colour of love is awful that makes more sense :'(
| |
but damn that Cyr is fucking good on a second listen! it will grow on me for sure
| |
Billy Corgan thinks he's 00's Britney Spears.
I never thought this would be a good thing. Live and learn.
| |
Lol the music video for CYR is so cringey
| |
yeah that's the worst thing about Cyr. When Billy's vocals first come on whether or not i'm watching the video that's cringe. and a couple more vocal moments are cringe. i can't decide if the chorus is only half completed or not but it's just enough to hook me. His ego and talent obviously outweighs his skill.

"Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict" https://youtu.be/0BFKJ8xDHCA
"Wrath" https://youtu.be/R-yos6keKvQ
Leave it to Billy Fucking Corgan to get James Iha and one of the best drummers in the world in Jimmy Chamberlin back into the fold just in time to start writing songs with sampled drums and no guitars, smfh. A double album of synth pop? Wtf is he thinking?
| |
lol can't wait to slap a 1 on this and go back to listening to Siamese and Mellon Collie.
| |
Compositionally the songs are solid, but this just isn't a good sound for them, it's like he's doing current musical trends through the SP filter, which is interesting but not at all playing to what they do best - turning up and kicking it into Big Damn Rock Band. This feels more like a WPC / solo project with the Pumpkins name than anything else they've done since Zeitgeist imo
| |
Billy would fuckin put Bohemian Grove in one of his videos lmao...on the plus side Confessions of a Dopamine Addict is one million times better than the title suggests.
| |
the two newest songs are..... pretty fucking boring. I honestly do not want to listen to them again, at all. Yuck, even worse than the first two, which I didn't see coming
I'm never one to be like 'wHEre ArE ThE GUitArS?!?" but for real, wtf. You've got Jimmy, Jeff, James and Billy altogether. God dammit, rock a little bit. An entire double album of new-wave synth pop shit? Jesus Christ. And it'd be fine if it was good or felt inspired at all. It just feels bloated and forced. It is almost as if Billy sat down and decided to make this record just because he knows that nobody wants this type of music from the Pumpkins. It feels like a big dumb 'fuck you'. Inversely, it could also be that Billy is indeed trying to write good music that people will like, and just failing miserably to seem relevant and up-to-date
| |
I’m holding out hope each of the four sides explores a different style (all four songs have been from Side A). Billy said that many different styles, familiar and new to SP will featured on Cyr. Not that it really matters if the songs are crappy but I wouldn’t expect the whole album to sound like this.
| |
^^ this seems likely. He can't be THAT dumb to force this style into a double LP.
| |
New videos / songs added to OP
It's just... eh. Song-wise, the new stuff is ok. Billy can still write great hooks, and they're probably better than anything in Shiny Vol.1 and Monuments at least. But sonically and musically, it's really boring, generic and lacking imo... and the modern electro-pop sound really doesn't bring out the band's strengths at all. Jimmy Chamberlain is way too good of a fucking drummer to be boxed into these shitty programmed beats and what was the point of bringing back James Iha and having two other killer guitarists in the band when there's barely any guitar on any of these new songs? Hoping the rumors that the album is going to be broken up into different sounds and genres is true and we're not going to get a whole fucking album of Billy turning Smashing Pumpkins into a Depeche Mode cover band, otherwise BC has lost the fucking plot imo
| |
Pretty much Strizz. I’m a pretty big SP apologist but at this point I’m dreading this album. All the singles released since the first two might as well be the same song as far as I’m concerned. They’re pleasant I guess (when I’m feeling generous) but there’s just no edge at all.
| |
Few of them are growers to be sure there is stuff going on there and it's a bit more inspired than his usual but they really need to turn up and remind people why they're one of the best damn rock bands ever
