Ulver detail new album/book

2020-06-03 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 28 Comments
Ulver have finally revealed more details regarding their upcoming Flowers of Evil LP. It will be released on August 28 through House of Mythology in multiple bundles and in their own words, "exploring the fear and wonder of mankind’s fall from redemption". Besides this, the band announced Wolves Evolve: The Ulver Story, a 336-page book detailing their history, including 150 pages of conversations.

“Wolves Evolve follows Ulver through the dark woods of their infancy and into the dead city centres where they would shift between their many shapes to come. It’s a labyrinthine tale of musical evolution on a grand scale. Some may be confused. Others will follow the band through their pantheon of friends and associates, obsessions and affinities. And while there, they will get a glimpse of the shapes and mis-shapes that have made up the alternative cultures of the past three decades, rescued from the iniquity of oblivion.”

Flowers of Evil tracklist:

1. One Last Dance
2. Russian Doll
3. Machine Guns and Peacock Feathers
4. Hour of the Wolf
5. Apocalypse 1993
6. Little Boy
7. Nostalgia
8. A Thousand Cuts

Seems like a sequel of sorts, I'm thinking of getting the book although it's a bit expensive

sounds just like Depeche Mode to me, which is a good thing. I imagine the guys love Depeche Mode and 80's pop.

Yeah I think so too Pleb! Loved the new singles, Assassination became a little old pretty quickly.

Still hope for some more experimentation on the new one than the singles showed though!

Their database is massive, that's my favourite thing about it and basically the only thing that attracts me along with the charts. Forget the community though, never dipped my toes there before and don't plan to.

i like getting street cred for adding my own albums on sput, so i guess that part doesn't bother me, but i can definitely understand the appeal of rym already having things added.

i really hate the charts on rym though... they're pretty confusing

Haha yeah I miss that feeling sometimes. I starting to get lazy though and just decided to move everything away.

As for the charts, I like them a lot. The algorithm they use to determine what goes on them is a total mystery lol but they're fun to browse through

i'm pretty sure their algorithm divides by zero somewhere in the thick of it
