New Tricot MV 2019-08-30 by Hugh G. Puddles STAFF | 9 Comments | Japanese math-rock quartet Tricot have dropped the music video for their new single, Afureru. Appropriately enough given that the title translates as 'overflowing' or 'brimming over', the video features the band impeccably dressed and performing in the sea. They are yet to announce a follow-up release to this year's Repeat, but if singer/guitarist Ikkyu's retrieval of her instrument from the sea midway through the song is indicative of anything, it's that the group are content to do things at their own pace for the time being.

Song is cool but haven't enjoyed their songs released after "3" so much tbh
| | | Lol don't @ me, I'm over the limit and should not be posting news articles in this state!
Song is super cool, big fan (but that's coming from someone who thought Repeat was their best complete work to date)
| | | track was killer, vidya was killer-er
| | | Repeat as their best? That's so interesting. I used to listen to their older albums on (ironically) repeat, but after that EP released I kind of lost interest for some reason. It felt like the songs were unconventional in a way which made it less enjoyable to listen to? Like disruptive or something? Not really sure
| | | Nice, will check when I have a moment. As soon as I saw Tricot, I knew it would be you, johnny, who was providing the news lol.
| | | Hmm I just loved the way they ran together (that opener aside) - the only track I come back to super frequently is Reflection, whereas their LPs have highlights galore, but I feel it works particularly well as a start-to-finish listen in a way that their past stuff slightly missed, ygm?
| | | Ooh, I loved the track "Butter" off of their latest EP.
| | | Yeah Butter is an awesome song. And yeah that totally makes sense. It definitely felt more cohesive as an album, personally I felt the songs individually were a little messy. Maybe I just didn't give it enough of a chance though!
| | | Butter is ace, but I find it much more rewarding as an EP climax than as its own track. Very curious to see where they go from here though - this is a much ballsier direction than on Repeat, so maybe they've cleared the air as far as that part of their sound goes
