The Ghost Inside return

2019-03-04 by Devastator | 34 Comments
More than 3 years after the horrific tour bus accident that claimed the life of their driver and left several members of the band in critical condition and resulted in drummer Andrew Tkaczyk losing one of his legs, California Melodic Hardcore band The Ghost Inside have announced their return to the stage. The band will play one show on July 13th at The Shrine in Los Angeles.

The band posted on their Instagram that this is their only show in 2019 and no decision on future shows will be made till after this show.

From the bands Instagram post:

"There is one question many of you have been asking: “Is this your last show?” The answer is we don’t know, but we sure hope it isn’t. We won’t make any decisions about that until we get off the stage and have a chance to let it sink in. This is absolutely 100% the only show we will play in 2019."

Additionally the band recently posted a reply to a fan on twitter asking how the bands recovery was going with an image of members in the studio teasing new music.

jesus fuck didn't know the crash was as bad as it was. from an article back in 2017...

"To this day the band is still recovering from the injuries sustained. Guitarist Zack Johnson has undergone twelve surgeries since then and had a few toes amputated. Drummer Andrew Tkaczyk unfortunately lost his right leg and was in a coma for 10 days. Vocalist, Jonathan Vigil, sustained a fracture in his neck along with two broken ankles that he has had multiple surgeries repairing with one as recent as two months ago and has had recurring secondary bone infections that he’s had to battle with in addition to the initial accident injuries. Others had scrapes, bruises, broken bones, repair surgeries and emotional trauma that nobody should ever have to experience"

pulling for these dudes.

This is important. Hella inspired seeing this, especially for Tkaczyk

The 3 of them were the ones in critical condition. There was a news article on sput a couple years ago that had pictures of Zack's foot before and after and it was not pretty at all. The author had to add a stronger warning.

Don’t care for their music but I have a massive amount of respect for them being able to pull through this and continue to make music. This would have destroyed most bands.

“It takes strength beyond strength”

The Conflict was my go-to song after my accident, years before this even occurred. To hear this news now, I just can’t sum up the feelings. So happy for these guys.

They're trying to find a way to put out more tickets, for any of you still interested in going. As far as melodic hardcore goes, they're one of the bigger names because I feel like they don't sound too contrived a lot of the time. They're also unafraid to evolve as a band. I'm hoping they center on the Fury or GWYG sounds because those were the most original sounding. Dear Youth was mixed really odd and ended up being kinda stale.

The only song missing from the set was White Light. I get why they don't play it though.
