The song is kinda underwhelming.

Yet another band who manages to keep in the limelight with all their abuse allegations being swept under the carpet whilst hiding behind their lawyers to force the victims to retract their statements.
Fuck this band.

I was hoping this would have something to do with Half Man Half Biscuit.

"Yet another band who manages to keep in the limelight with all their abuse allegations being swept under the carpet whilst hiding behind their lawyers to force the victims to retract their statements.
Fuck this band."
The allegations were dropped, proven false, the supposed "victim" dropped them and apologized. Not really sure what else you want?
|
| |
the band aren't massive, if the allegations were true, surely the "victim" would not retract her accusations after a very short legal proceeding? if the accusations were true, they could easily fight back against brocos legal team. People have fought much bigger bands legal teams in the past and won. It makes no sense that they would back down after a couple of days.
it sucks cos some of the accusations from the MeToo movement are fake, which makes it harder for genuine victims to be heard. If someone is accused, like Rob was, and they win in court, unless you have physical evidence of the assault, you should side with whoever won. Otherwise it becomes a horrific downward spiral of accusations being taken over evidence

Why would someone make up allegations about a band that isn't well known like DB? They had to come from somewhere, plus what would someone have to gain out of the proceedings? Pretty much every time someone comes out about someone in a band, the accuser gets accused of being a liar by the fans of the band (i.e. Neck Deep), and who would want to be known for being abused by a band member anyway?
|
| |
why can't this band just be 100% dead

Boooo Kurai Boooo. Please stop.
|

Stop what? Speaking out about bands who feel that because they're in a relatively successful band they can treat their female fans how they want?
Allowing these bands to remain active without holding them accountable for their actions is why this keeps happening.

"Allowing these bands to remain active"
as opposed to what? Them being banned from making music?

"Saw you in the club
You was lookin fine
Knew that by midnight
You were gonna be my guy
Anyway by any, any means
Everybody at the bar havin good times yo
So I target my girl and away we go
Everybody at the bar havin good times yo
So I slip her a wink and away we go
Everybody at the bar havin good times
So I slip it in her drink and away we go
Find your steps and follow
Hold your breath and swallow
Have I gone too far?
Ooops I've gone too far
Find your steps and follow
Don't be shy just swallow
Have I gone too far?
Nah ain't gone too far
Saw you in the club
You was lookin fine
Knew that by midnight you
Were gonna be my guy
You're buying me these drinks
Seems like I've had enough
My head is going crazy
Like I've had too much
Wat'cha gonna do?
I know you know what's going to happen
I'm sure I know this is
What you want to happen
Imma gonna make you pop
Never gonna go stop stop
Imma go crazy you're my baby
In and out and in and out"
yeah definitely a band that should be allowed to keep writing music

why do I feel like even if there was conclusive evidence that Rob did nothing, you'd still call him a rapist? He won in court, what else could they possibly do to prove their innocence? the issue with things like the Me Too movement is once someone is accused, they could be proven 100% innocent and there would still be a witch hunt. there is LITERALLY no winning.
|
| |
also snake that song is 11 years old, not really representative of who they are now x luv u
|

They didn't even go to court, they threatened legal action and the victim retracted their statement. There wasn't even one allegation, there were two separate allegations. If there was conclusive evidence, then sure, I'd believe him, but I'd rather side with a potential liar than a potential abuser.
It seems that people are more than happy to call a witching if its a band they don't care about, but when its a band they like, the victim is a liar and everyone starts throwing around the "Separate the art from the artist" argument.

I get you, I love Brand New and Crystal Castles, I won't defend the probable actions of Ethan Kath and Jesse Lacey, but these ones I'm leaning in Robs favour. As soon as DB released their statement, the twitter account that posted the story went private, they retracted their allegation after being contacted by DB's legal team. The second allegation was apparently also completely made up, from what I can remember parts of both stories didn't add up, Rob had an alibi for one of them, the twitter one came from the FRIEND of the victim who apparently got a lot mixed up, and the actual victim didn't know they'd posted it
|
| |
Maybe they went private for the sake of avoiding the abuse of Don Broco fans? Completely unrelated allegations, but I have in the past spoken with the victim of Moose Blood's allegations, and her Twitter was private for exactly that reason; Moose Blood fans were giving her abuse and accusing her of lying.
