I hope that the hype doesn't end up hurting this album like it did with Rooms of the House, but the song is genuinely incredible, and I hope that it generally follows this atmosphere throughout. It would be great if there were some longer tracks for sure, but quality over quantity always reigns supreme.

Maybe the wrong album or even the wrong band. I get these guys confused with another band all the time. Unfortunately I can't remember the other bands name. Basically the formula I remember was 'Scream emotionally, pause for these sort of cringy rants/spoken word'' rinse repeat. Over and over.

Love it, also agree in hoping that the hype doesn't kill reception for this album like Rooms. Personally, the album art alone went a way in diminishing my expectations because its atrocious but I was pleasantly surprised. I really like that the instrumental composition has stepped up immensely on this song, to the point where its matching Dreyer's vocals - didn't really feel that was the case on Rooms. Also, Jordan is monologuing less here, which is a nice change. Video was amazing, too.

Don't mind the album art at all. Doesn't seem extremely La Dispute to me, but it's tasteful and pretty. Certainly not bothersome, at the very least.

Loving the song and video. Album art seems a little unusual for them but I'm hoping it'll match the sound of the record. For people asking after longer songs, the last track is the longest at a bit over 7 mins. Everything else is looking between 3-5 mins.

Rooms was only a disappointment in so much as it was a pretty big change of pace for them. It's a lot more subdued and quiet, which I absolutely loved. Rooms might even be my favorite album by them. These two songs here have me incredibly hyped for what's next and, lordy, that video is gorgeous.

Admit that you only hate it because it wasn't the same style you wanted from that band. It is so fantastic in its own way. No sane human can listen to Repine and say it isn't a well-written song

I don't mind bands changing style at all. It's just sometimes the shift in sound goes horribly wrong, which is exactly what happened to pianos. Their second album was fucking gorgeous though
Thrice changed their sound on Vheissu and it worked pretty damn well. Thursday made changes to their sound and ended up releasing No Devolucion. There are plenty of other examples there, I'm sure, but it definitely doesn't apply to the three bands I talked about.

I think Defeater is another brilliant example of the band simplifying their songwriting and ending up releasing something truly mediocre. Travels and Lost Ground are stunning records, but everything that followed is just so painfully average.

Defeater haven't released a bad album, but they stopped doing anything ambitious after Empty Days. Their problem is that they haven't changed or written anything spectacular since.

Touche Amore haven't changed their sound too much but are still releasing amazing albums.

La Dispute are doing it right, changing their sound enough to sound fresh but also not becoming dull. Rooms doesn't have any iconic screaming or shouting parts ("TONIGHT WE RIDE") but it also doesn't have cringy and sometimes misplaced earnestness of their other material.

This easily has more urgency than anything on Rooms of the House. The build up and crescendo is genuinely powerful. Rooms was good but unlike previous La Dispute records, the record didn't take me anywhere. I think I can speak for a lot of La Dispute fans when saying the issue wasn't the sound of Rooms of the House, it was the execution.

I just don't get much from this band anymore but that song was pretty good. Maybe this album will win me back

agreed. its the most in your face song on the album so it gets the most hype but it is because of how blunt it is that i dont care for it. its also completely unrelatable in story, whereas harder harmonies/you and i in unison are much more poignant and lasting to me

King Park doesn't have to be relatable for it to be good. The song masterfully tells a story and draws you into it and makes you feel as though you're there witnessing it all unfold. Not to mention the tremendously passionate vocal deliveries and instrumental buildups. I admit it's not my favorite on the album but come on guys...

I'm just saying there's better songs on Wildlife, chill.

King Park is an incredible song. Very few bands are capable of capturing emotion the way La Dispute do and King Park is their peak of that.

King Park isn't the best on Wildlife but that's really all I can say against it. It's still one of the best songs I'll ever hear.

Rooms is still a good album though MillionDead. I feel like they tried a few different approaches that their fan base didn't love, but that has shows no indication to me that they still don't have a great record in them.

Rooms was too dialed back for me in terms of sonics. It told solid stories but the delivery was hardly ever exciting. And now we have an album with an aging band fresh off of a binge of Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, and Gravity Falls.
