While the majority of sputnik users are definitely not your target demographic (just look at the average ratings of most scene metalcore albums), I actually heard this song the other day and kinda liked it.

all of the "average ratings of most scene metalcore albums" are completely fake. the average sputnik user loves this kind of disgusting garbage, they just do it from deeper in the closet

Intro is pretty cool but this is just post-Sempiternalcore, and the whiney cleans don't help. Generic music sadly. You gotta evolve into something that's atleast kind of original, cause this music is not gonna cut it in the scene... You guys have some talent but please try to be original instead of trend-hopping. The generic Dreambound production doesn't help.

Hey IIWY, I promoted my own band through Sputnik a little bit and got some decent feedback. I might suggest a more personable approach rather than a band official account. You'll find very little band-optimal functionality here and it looks a lot more genuine receiving critique and reviews as a user rather than a band representation. That way it's not looking like you're looking for clickbait or contriving your own social media pull. :-)

pretty good, solid band

Calling Poughkeepsie "upstate" is weird to me because I'm from near the middle of the state and Poughkeepsie is south of here.

Not the most original or creative song ever. It's working within a fairly standard metalcore framework, but you took that and rather than making a song that tries to be overly creative/experimental and fails, or a song that is so generic that it's boring, you made a song that made the best of the standard metalcore framework, and came out with something that is actually pretty good. I really did enjoy it, especially some of the electronic flourishes. They really are the cherry on the top of the cake.

This is getting a lot of good feedback lol if this were 5 years ago, this would be shit on. I miss the old Sputnik

nothing bad about this, but nothing particularly good or original either. sounds like any other metalcore song released in the last decade tbh. same song structure, same riffs, same breakdowns, same whiny singing.

I have definitely noticed a big influx of less radical Sputnikers over the years. I'm gonna toot my own horn and say I was one of the first ones because literally everything I liked was getting shat on back in '11 when I started.

The site was better back then tbh. I barely even commented when I first joined but all of the arguments, drama, and bans were hilarious especially when some new user would just get destroyed, that’s pretty much why I stayed. I’d spend hours just reading peoples bullshit, now the site is kind of boring imo.

At worst, they're bland and pretentious. I think "hot garbage" is exaggerating a little, even with their more recent output. I'd say average to poor at worst.

as was Challenger, I liked This Light I Hold too. the other two I know are pretty much average.
