This fucking sucks. The song title is so fucking stupid is pisses me off. First St. Anger, and now this shit? I am so pissed off at this band right now. I thought Load was a logical transition for them and it was an awesome album, but of course all the old school fans got pissed and tore it to pieces. So now we have a band trying to be what they were back in the 80s and they are just embarrassing themselves. I was fine with their newer Hard Rock style in the Load/Re-Load era, but this shit is just horrible.

Ah man, this is pretty weak. Just a few hours ago I had on Kill Em All, and this just shows how far they've fallen..

Also, why does every song they do nowadays have to be 8+ minutes?! There's nothing in this song to justify a length longer than 4/5 minutes! I think if they aimed for more focused, higher energy short songs it would benefit them. I'd also apply this (to a FAR lesser extent) to Maiden's latest album or two

I've never even really liked Metallica much, but this song literally made me cringe. I now know that I will never like Metallica.

Apparently much of the guitars are going to be redone, and the solo will be completely retracked. Supposedly the solo they recorded on the demo was mostly improvised. Not sure if they changed it on this official release.

I can't comprehend the undying love for Metallica. There is no denying their place in the history of metal, but simply because a band was once great does negate the fact that they can suck as well. I must note, most comments on here are negative, which seems just about right to me.

A really simple litmus test for those that want to rush to their defense...take the name 'Metallica' out of the equation...

(1) weak guitar tones
(2)...ahh..screw it...weak EVERYTHING...the vocals are strained, the bass is there and that's about it, and the lead is boring, and the drumming is elementary.

The BIGGEST flaw, that I CANNOT comprehend is the thin production. How does the biggest metal band in the world, with unlimited $ for the best engineers, best producers, best equipment come out of the studio sounding so shitty? Their last 3 albums have all had weaknesses in regards to production. EVEN IF the music is shitty, it could at least SOUND good?

Their songwriting is lazy and obviously they are lazy in the recording process as well. There is a big difference between going for a rawer sound and just sounding like a preschooler is at the mixing board. They are over and it is a shame that they will continue to stay the biggest metal band in the world, by resting on their laurels. There are so many better bands out there that are hungry, doing new things, and writing far better music that this tripe.

Finally found the song on YT, was better than I thought. It seems like they're sticking with this catchy throwback thrash sound that DM was exploring. It'd be nice if they branched out a bit, or if Lars tried using his ride cymbal again like in the early 80's

I like it, but it's clearly just a "garage demo" and not much else. Great song buried in there, but there definitely needs to be some riffs cut and used in other songs. Some parts just don't flow at all. It could lose about two minutes.
