No thank you
Digging: In Vain - Currents
I'll pirate it I guess
ugh. it's just, so damn terrible
^Metallica fans for the last 18 years
it's like we want to believe that something good can come of them...but it never happens
Hey Death Magnetic had some good songs... well, not really... it didn't suck it was actually kinda of
I bet you can't even hear Dave Mustaine's bass guitar on this.
RIP Zipzop5565 (who probably runs Cracked now)
wasn't a bad song
how bad is the production is the real question
Digging: Shakti - Natural Elements
bad song name
sounds like something some bad collaboration would come up with like green day and lcd soundsystem
Link doesn't work
Digging: Bass Communion - Sisters Oregon
I'm actually really digging Hetfields vocals on this. Song itself is pretty boring, not terrible but not great.
That double bass sounds fucking awful though
I'll get it from napster
Digging: Good Tiger - We Will All be Gone
sounds just like DM production...hopes dashed
I'll pirate it
I enjoyed the 10 seconds before the solo comes in
This fucking sucks. The song title is so fucking stupid is pisses me off. First St. Anger, and now this shit? I am so pissed off at this band right now. I thought Load was a logical transition for them and it was an awesome album, but of course all the old school fans got pissed and tore it to pieces. So now we have a band trying to be what they were back in the 80s and they are just embarrassing themselves. I was fine with their newer Hard Rock style in the Load/Re-Load era, but this shit is just horrible.
It's not very good.
it was already officially released, just not available to purchase
Death Magnetic was undoubtedly flawed but still enjoyable for what it was. This just doesn't seem to have anything good going on at all.
So very unimpressive
song is so fucking boring.
Digging: Autopsy - The Headless Ritual
even new sylosis would be better than this
not that bad.
fucking terrible holy shit, the double bass in the verse made me burst out laughing
Digging: Frumpy - 2
Long-ass and unfocused.
Digging: Savage Machine - Abandon Earth
Whoever reviews the damned thing if/when it comes out, feel free to use as your summary the phrase "Metallica's Super Collider".
drums sounds like they were recorded on a fisher price kids cassette tape machine.
Song is so fucking terrible
Well this is Lars Ulrich we're talking about
Ah man, this is pretty weak. Just a few hours ago I had on Kill Em All, and this just shows how far they've fallen..
Also, why does every song they do nowadays have to be 8+ minutes?! There's nothing in this song to justify a length longer than 4/5 minutes! I think if they aimed for more focused, higher energy short songs it would benefit them. I'd also apply this (to a FAR lesser extent) to Maiden's latest album or two
I've never even really liked Metallica much, but this song literally made me cringe. I now know that I will never like Metallica.
Apparently much of the guitars are going to be redone, and the solo will be completely retracked. Supposedly the solo they recorded on the demo was mostly improvised. Not sure if they changed it on this official release.
much better than anything they've done lately but still has some dad rock undertones
Nah, Death Magnetic has much better songs than this one.
I said much better but it's still weak. One listen will last a lifetime tbh.
release an EDM remix please
Why are they still trying?
has this been punned lords of bummer yet
Not yet, go ahead.
lol such a weak lead riff.
Digging: A Pregnant Light - Lucky All My Life
That was an absolute steaming pile of shit.
lords of the underworld!
Digging: Harm's Way - Posthuman
god lars has gotten worse how is that even possible
Digging: Converge - The Dusk in Us
that was messy and my senses had dulled following a minute and a half of the song
but it just went on and on
twister dude where have you been, the site needs U more than ever
in the middle of a move halfway across canada as well as exams
limited internet access as well, so haven't really had the chance to kick around
but yeah fuck this, just go listen to tantara instead
honestly at this point i'm convinced that ernie from sesame street is a better drummer than lars
thats probably because ernie from sesame street is a better drummer than lars
This is already on the radio. I think I caught most of it on the way home. The instrumental part is cool I suppose but the rest sounds like it's from Beyond Magnetic. It just goes through the motions.
The song is pretty generic but the dual leads are cool and I thought "Wow, thank god Kirk is laying off the wah pedal"
...and then the wah pedal happened
this is the worst shit i have ever heard in my whole life like holy fuck what in the fuck were they thinking this makes me want to kill myself and take a few extra citizens with me while i piss on the face of god himself
jk its okay
NOW THAT THE LORDS OF SUMMER HAVE RETURNEDDDDD-AH
Report them to the mods bro
I can't belive how mindlessly hateful and
childish some of the comments here are. Wtf is
wrong with you guys?
It's obvious that most people won't like an
mediocre song like this. I'm also pretty
sceptical about their new album, but god damn,
show some respect...even if you don't like an
artist, you don't have to act like fucking
idiots. I'm getting really tired of all this
senseless hating thats happening in many places
in metal. Pls stop and don't let us look this
the solo sounds like avenged sevenfold s/t wow nice gj
this song needs work
Your time has come and gone. Please move over for bands that have the edge, because yours has gone dull. I'm quite tired of seeing half-assed, shallow, trite music.
Wells let's see:
-Riffs are lame
-James vocals somehow got worse
-Lars still doing nothing interesting
-Retarded song idea and lyrics
-The flimsiest, weakest production ever
-Solo has no rhythm, then erupts into more shitty Kirk Hammett wah
-About 6 minutes too long
Great job, Metallica.
Song: "Lords of Summer"
Album: [the new metallica album]
"i can see you
your butt keeps fartin in the sun
you got your butt cover on and
butt glasses on
and i can tell you
my chub for you will still be strong
after the lords of summer are gone!!"
pretty solid lyrics for a metallica track tbh
Average at best...
I can't comprehend the undying love for Metallica. There is no denying their place in the history of metal, but simply because a band was once great does negate the fact that they can suck as well. I must note, most comments on here are negative, which seems just about right to me.
A really simple litmus test for those that want to rush to their defense...take the name 'Metallica' out of the equation...
(1) weak guitar tones
(2)...ahh..screw it...weak EVERYTHING...the vocals are strained, the bass is there and that's about it, and the lead is boring, and the drumming is elementary.
The BIGGEST flaw, that I CANNOT comprehend is the thin production. How does the biggest metal band in the world, with unlimited $ for the best engineers, best producers, best equipment come out of the studio sounding so shitty? Their last 3 albums have all had weaknesses in regards to production. EVEN IF the music is shitty, it could at least SOUND good?
Their songwriting is lazy and obviously they are lazy in the recording process as well. There is a big difference between going for a rawer sound and just sounding like a preschooler is at the mixing board. They are over and it is a shame that they will continue to stay the biggest metal band in the world, by resting on their laurels. There are so many better bands out there that are hungry, doing new things, and writing far better music that this tripe.
Half of the (song) solo could have been cut.
You don't have to ask them to "move over" considering it's up to you what you listen to.
listened to this yesterday, pretty generic track overall. even though the solo wasn't great, it was one of the best parts of the song. lyrics were just terrible.
Lars was right! There's snare! What a fucking revolutionary track.
Napster that shit!
Remember a few years before Death Magnetic when they did The New Song and The Other New Song? They only used like 2 riffs from both of them on the actual album, maybe this is the same case.
These comments are hilarious. Sure, the song isnt great, in fact its not really anything special at all, but "That was an absolute steaming pile of shit" and "that was the worst fucking thing i;ve ever heard"? Really? I feel like Metallica could go back and time, steal Rust In Peace or Peace Sells and release it today with absolutely nothing changed, and you guys would still say "wow, this is crap, metallica sold out, RIP napster, lars lieks it in the butt LOLOLOLOLOL amirite guyz?" You guys are just a bunch of immature fucks that are still butthurt over Load not being a thrash album with riffs based on open E-string generic alternating pick thrash bullshit.
Hey everybody, look over there! It's a Metallica song! Kill it before it escapes! *riot chase ensues*
god those drums are awful. sounds like a 13 y/o kid doing a megadeth cover on youtube.
i wonder how much post production magic is going to be done on lars' drums for the final version so the double bass doesnt sound like a farting old man
Its not even funny anymore, those drum roll fills on the intro are fucking Grade 0 shit.
it was never funny
The live vids of him fucking up sure were.
^ Got a link for them?
One of many: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osqe_V-3xYQ
i just feel pity/shame
Haha I should have searched myself if I knew the video was really "Lars fucks up"! Thanks. And the comment "Geoff Tate wannabe" deserves a like.
That spit from James tho.
I don't get all the hate for lars, he's pretty mediocre drummer and only ever does one beat for 90% of the songs and even
goes off time sometimes on the albums and... well now that I think about it maybe I do understand lol
gave it another try
it still sucks
Where are people hearing this? The link posted never worked for me, someone please post new one?
Download 'em all.
lol @ this song. It's not bad but it's not good lol.
no, it's bad
I like it. Verses sound like "Black Magic" by Slayer tho
Finally found the song on YT, was better than I thought. It seems like they're sticking with this catchy throwback thrash sound that DM was exploring. It'd be nice if they branched out a bit, or if Lars tried using his ride cymbal again like in the early 80's
I like it, but it's clearly just a "garage demo" and not much else. Great song buried in there, but there definitely needs to be some riffs cut and used in other songs. Some parts just don't flow at all. It could lose about two minutes.
