Album art rules, Will listen to the song after class. Wooooooo
|
| |
love everything about this
|
| |
Song is unsurprisingly awesome. Can't wait for the album to drop!
The art is awesome too. Is that the cover?
|
| |
yes that is the cover

agreed

Perfecto

I could be a dick and say '1/10'.
Surprisingly, the vocals are the best thing about this.
|
| |
.....what happened to his voice
|
| |
Solid. They always have really good artwork.
|
| |
Good song, like that he's doing sons harsh vocals again
|
| |
Protest songs all take me some time to really digest so I'll wait to form an opinion. Definitely excited though.
|
| |
I don't understand how they manage to produce such a distinct sound between albums. Sounds like this will be better than Scurrilous!
|
| |
this is miles ahead of their last release
|
| |
This is definitely better than most if not all of the last album. That being said I think my tolerance
of Rody has hit a wall. I used to love this guy's voice but it really doesn't do much for me here, or
on the last album. I'm honestly not sure if it's his voice or his melodies that are so MEH (I think
it's probably the melodies) but either way he's not really in the plus column for me any more.
|
| |
It has the cathartic feel of Kezia blended with the carelessness of Scurrilous with more technical flourishes. I don't think it'll top Kezia, but I'm really excited! 8/10
|
| |
Ah, so stoked!
|
| |
Pretty disappointed...
|
| |
This is so much better than that Scurrilous garbage. Seems really awesome.
|
| |
agreed on being a mixture of the 3, and excelling leaps and bounds beyond scurrilous
|
| |
Not awful. But I really miss the sporadic switch between screams and singing. Glad there's at least SOME harsh vocals in here but it still doesn't provide the same energy.

This is pretty great.
|

jesus this is so bad

Not big on how mars volta-y the cleans have gotten.

jesus you're so bad[2]
|
| |
i'm predicting this PtH ranking later this year:
Kezia > Volition=Fortress >>>>>> Scurrilous
|
| |
guys for real though
Scurrilous is not that bad.
|
| |
Nope, may even be their best album.
|
| |
Rules
|
| |
I'd say it's something like:
Kezia > Fortress >= Scurrilous

MetalSucks sucks. Site isn't even loading.

adler did such a good job on this seriously though, i thought it was going to be an awkward transition drumwise but it's really not even remotely so.

jesus you're so bad[4]
|
| |
Much better than I expected. Why do people who don't like Rody keep listening to new stuff and then moaning bout his voice? If you don't like it, you won't like anything by them!
|
| |
yea if u dunt liek it den dunt lisen to it
|
| |
way better than the last album already
I actually hear emotion this time around
|
| |
They did a really good job here. Sounds like PtH but like they're having fun again
|
| |
Song blows. Hopefully the rest of the album will be an improvement.
|
| |
Well after digesting for 10 listens or so I'll say it's definitely better than the entire last album, and on par with songs from Fortress. Awesome track for a hopefully awesome album.
|
| |
Are we all listening to the same song? This just BARELY feels like a Protest song, and I think Adler's drum performance felt totally phoned in. It's bland, generic metal drums and not anything like the creativity Moe brought to the band. Also totally seconded on whoever said the vocals sounded Mars Vola-y
|
| |
This is a nice fucking change. They actually gave the instruments room to breathe on this song.
|
| |

I'm starting to wonder the same thing. How does this not sound like a PtH song other than maybe the drums?
Also considering how huge of a change in style this is for Adler I think he did a great job adapting himself.
|
| |
"Surprisingly, the vocals are the best thing about this."
wow it must really suck then
|
| |
"It's bland, generic metal drums and not anything like the creativity Moe brought to the band."
Lolwut. Moe is a perfectly capable drummer but his playing was far from creative, I found it to be
quite bland a lot of the time. Adler didn't get too flashy here but it fits.
|
| |
Yeah after listening to it a few more times I don't quite hate it as much anymore, I was little harsh.
Sure, it's hard for Adler I'm sure, but that just means he clearly wasn't the right choice of drummer for this record. I really
miss the breakneck pace of their past songs. That punk influence was so crucial to their sound imo, so those spastic
changes aren't really present anymore. But I guess it feels a bit more mature and the structure is pretty cool.
|
| |
Pretty good song. Surprisingly streamlined and focused, was expecting something more whacky. The drumming
is boring, but the artwork rules.
|
| |
boy it's just lovin' or hatin' all across the board.
|
| |
Song is awesome. Can't wait for the album now.
|
| |
Song is very cool, definitely a step in the right direction. My only gripe the guitars sound really overproduced
|
| |
this is a lot better than i expected. pretty kickass.
|
| |
Almost forgot Adler was on drums for this. I think they actually sound tighter with him behind the kit.
I do miss how wild Bloodmeat and other tracks on Fortress/Kezia were. But this is pretty solid.
|
| |
Yeah, this is awesome.
|
| |
this is a perfectly fine progression of sound for them imo.
if this sounded like kezia or fortress i'd be pissed. we already have those albums, i don't want another
|
| |
All these extreme reactions are funny, considering this song's sound isn't much of a shocker.
|
| |
sounds great to me
|
| |
Of course it does
|
| |
sick song
|
| |
PROTEST IS BACK BABY!
|
| |
damn this song rips so hard. especially that outro
|
| |
what a mid paced dud
|
| |
Damn, such lackluster drumming though. Moe get your ass back in this band!
|
| |
"Damn, such lackluster drumming though. Moe get your ass back in this band!"
cant agree with you there
|
| |
songs good, they will never top fortress though
|
| |
that album art is amazing
|
| |
Holy fucking shit this is awesome. Glad to see the people's money was wisely spent.
Is that the album art for the exclusive version or the regular one though? I heard there were two different versions of the album.
|
| |
song rules.
|
| |
also, rody sounds good. slightly less whiny than usual. not that i dont enjoy it.

Considering metalsucks, sucks, here's a site that loads properly with the song.

|
| |
Light years ahead of Scurrilous? Not even close. This track has nothing on Cest La Vie, Moonlight, Termites or Tongue Splitter just off the top of my head.
|
| |
I didn't like Scurrilous that much, liking this a lot though.
|
| |
That's what confuses me, they really have a consistent sound throughout all of their albums.
|
| |
That was awesome, gonna be better than scurrilous.
|
| |
The traffic for the song may have broken MetalSucks. This was a pretty big exclusive for them.
|
| |
Never been too into these guys, but this song is pretty fun.
|
| |
shit band amirite?
|
| |
way better than that piece of shit scurrilous
|
| |
Sounds a bit akin to post hardcore to be honest
|
| |
surprisingly really good!?
|
| |
It reminded me of Kezia when the more melodic parts came about but their aggressive side is definitely
going in a different direction, a lot more straightforward even. It does have that Protest vibe, no
doubt. I definitely like it.
|
| |
Honestly they could use some more straightforward direction, which is part of the reason I like this song so much. The endless spastic noodling was beat to death on the last album. This is still clearly their sound but more... mature I guess would be the word. I approve.
|
| |
Yeah man I think that it is trying to focus that chaos, but I am not really taking any sides yet on
whether or not that is a good thing. I think they are really trying to vary it up--something they
have always been good at--and I think that this time around Adler has had a lot of influence.
also, 1000 comments, awesome.
|
| |
More aggressive in a good way. Reminiscent of some hybrid Kezia/Fortress sound. Refreshing to hear after Scurrilous.
|
| |
I think im on the super excited for this album side of the fence
|
| |
It was pretty cool.
|
| |
solid song but this band just doesn't interest me like they used to a few years ago.
|
| |
I have a great feeling about the new album
|
| |
Sounds like periphery
|
| |
great song, as per usual. i'm sure the album will slay.
oh and Scurrilous ruled... minus the song Termites. didn't do a thing for me.
|
| |
sounded a bit too straight to be pth
like someone said earlier about the wildness of bloodmeat
|
| |
"Sounds like periphery"
Yeah totally, if you're deaf.
|
| |
^i think he's referring to the joke PTH made calling their new album Periphery III
|
| |
Like this better than pretty much anything on the last album.
The drumming sounds a bit dull but i'm sure the rest of the album will be better.
|
| |
Good song.
|
| |
Really renegade? I think Termites is one of their best songs, track rules hard.
|
| |
Song is okay. Will have to check out the new album. Hopefully this will not be the only track off their new album with harsh vocals
|
| |
gonna see em live in novemeber with architects m/
|
| |
4.5/10
|
| |
Dat album cover. Song is awesome.
|
| |
@Funeral
Me too. Gonna be awesome!
|
| |
song gets better with each listen. cannot fucking wait for the new album now
|
| |
^I thought it'd be a grower; I liked it on first listen but haven't heard it since
And yeah, this won't be aoty (because Kayo Dot didn't make it), but it is probably top 5 material
|
| |
Is good but something is missing
|
| |
your enthusiasm for great music is what's missing
|
| |
awesome post 5~/5~
|
| |
i'm here through the weekend
|
| |
i swear dude if youre fucking with me i will find you
|
| |
lol jk dont call the pigs on me bye bye qt
|
| |
nah i'm here forever
|
| |
ya ive heard this several times now, and in my eyes they really havent written progressive composite quite like this.
|
| |
A resounding "meh".
|
| |
scurrilious = fortress > kezia....
|
| |
loved this song though
|
| |
sounding solid. Definitely better than anything off Scurrilous.
|
| |
"scurrilious = fortress > kezia...."
Hellllllllll no. Fortress is so so SO much better than Scurrilous.
|
| |
and kezia last? wtf is wrong with you?
|
| |
I'm sorry :/
|
| |
Is it just me or does the lead part at 3:10 sound really fucking familiar? I can't fucking think of where I have heard that exact part before.
|
| |
scurrilous is underrated.
|
| |
song 3.5/5
art 5/3.5
|
| |
Fortress > Kezia = Scurrilous

|
| |
Why do Rody's vocals always sound out of place?
|
| |
definitely some wicked guitar work here.
|
| |
Great freaking song
|
| |
im so happy harsh vocals are back
|
| |
its clearly Fortress => Kezia >> Scurrilous. Interesting to see where this badboy slots in. Initially impressed though.
|
| |
"Why do Rody's vocals always sound out of place?"
they... don't?
|
| |
Never do in fact.

I read somewhere that they write and record the entire song before Rody has to put vocals over top the finished product. This was at least true for when Arif wasn't writing the lyrics.
