Audioslave Disband

2007-02-15 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 33 Comments
After a highly productive five years together, rock "supergroup" Audioslave have disbanded by mutual consent.

Frontman Chris Cornell broke the news via a short statement earlier today, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences," as quoted by Billboard.com. The statement concludes, "I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

Cornell spent the final months of 2006 recording his second solo album, Carry On, while the remaining members recently announced that they'll reform Rage Against The Machine with former bandmate Zach de la Rocha for a special performance at this year's Coachella festival.

Carry On is due for release on May 1 via Suretone/Interscope Records.

Can't say I didn't see this coming, can't say I really care either.
Maybe it will mean a full-scale Rage reunion, that would be kind of cool.

Kinda saw it coming. Audioslave was good, nothing amazing but one of the better rock bands on the radio.

cool. Audioslave weren't bad but I think they've done all they could have together. They made 3 solid albums and anything more would have just been repetitive or awful

I loved Audioslave, fantastic live band. It was coming though...

RATM reforming (even if it is only for one gig) makes this news easier to take. I think we may be seeing a complete reformation of the best band ever!* Yay!

*fact. :smoke:

This is pretty much what I was thinking. They never really did anything for me.

Their last album was the only one I liked.
I'm hardly a fan.
Wish them all luck though, and hope Morello gets back in form (lord knows his soloing efforts for the 'Slave were atrocious).

Thank God. The last album sucked. The only really good one was their first.

kinda sad about really like the two first albums.
Cool about RAGE getting together for one gig but it's seems very unlikely that soundgarden would reunite so i just hope Cornells solo album blows so that there is a reason for them to reunite.

I don't think that Soundgarden would reunite, but it would be cool if they did.

Hopefully the 3 instrumentalist will stay together cause they have some good chemistry. I'm curious to see what singer they will pick.

Cornell's solo album is going to kick ass... I doubt soundgarden will ever reuinite, but if they did I'd go fucking apeshit.

Well that sucks. We'll always have their self-titled and revelations though . Heres hoping for a full reunion of RATM.

VERY unfortunate!

There was hardly a song of theirs I don't like. I really don't understand why people didn't like them.

So many people, especially on here, don't seem to like Audioslave.

Posts like "finally" "thank god" really piss me off. I thought AS would get some respect for their music. They're better than all of this repititive emo shit out there and a lot of other current mainstream shit.

Audioslave RIP

Not really looking forward to Rage re-uniting. Their self-titled was great but then just went downhill. Only a few songs on the other 3 albums I liked. In general, I hate bands re-uniting. I don't see the point of bringing back the past. It's a different story, thought, if they form under a new name with some different members.

Will miss Audioslave forever. Thanks for three great albums and an amazing live concert

Also the only people that knew about Audioslave were Rage and SG fans really, which is a bit unfair, in the sense that they kept on getting comparisons with Rage and SG, even though, imo, they were a completely different band, and were heading in a different direction to Rage/SG.This Message Edited On 02.19.07

wooh! i'm so amshamed of this post now i was just really pissed off at the time. This Message Edited On 08.02.07
