God damn, I'm excited. Sounds fantastic.

Didn't even know they were recording.
Band is fun in a pussy sort of way.
|
| |
Previews don't sound bad but oh my....the song titles are dreadful.
|
| |
"Shitload of Money" totally does not sound like a title they would come up with, still looking forward
to this though.
|
| |
Being 10 years old and blasting Sonata Arctica while playing Chrono Trigger m/ m/
|
| |
'Only The Broken Hearts (Make You Beautiful)'
'Shitload of Money'
'Losing My Insanity'
'Somewhere Close To You'
'I Have A Right'
'Alone In Heaven'
'The Day'
'Cinderblox'
'Don't Be Mean'
'Wildfire II'
'Wildfire III'
|
| |
dgaf, this will rule.
|
| |
i wish they were good
|
| |
Can't say I'm impressed with these clips.. but yeah, still excited to hear the whole thing.
|
| |
Sounds just a good old 3/5
|
| |
sounding better than The Days of Grays
|
| |
I sincerely hope that this will be better than their last one but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet
|
| |
As weird as the titles sound, as a self-confessed SA fanboy, I think I'm going to love this. Previews are sounding good, seems they may have moved on from the Days of Greys sound a bit..

I hope they moved on from their last album because I was mediocre, the older efforts were fantastic so I hope they return to the path that they have building once again
|
| |
Please stop sucking
|
| |
I'm stoked for this. Sounds like they're being a bit less dramatic compared to TDoG this time around.

@Naysayers: Your moms. All your moms.
|
| |
ugh they will never return to the Ecliptica sound that made them great in the first place.
|
| |
Well except that Ecliptica is their weakest album, so that's kind of a good thing.
|
| |
You really think Ecliptica is weaker than Unia and The Days of Grays?
|
| |
Absolutely. I know I'm in the minority among SA fans but I think they're way better.
|
| |
Ecliptica is so much fun to listen to when compared to their other albums. I'd probably rank them:
Ecliptica
Reckoning Night
Winterheart's Guild
Silence
Unia
The Days of Grays
|
| |
It's this for me:
Reckoning Night
Winterheart's Guild
The Days of Grays
Unia
Silence
Ecliptica
I think they're at their best when they're blending the traditional power and prog stuff (RN and WG) but I definitely prefer the prog to the earlier stuff which is just way too straightforward for my tastes and isn't nearly as unique or distinct as the later material. FullMoon does rule though.
|
| |
Reckoning Night is far and away their best album for me. Perfect blend of their previous power metal sound with the more progressive style they were aiming for.
After that it's probably:
Winterheart's Guild
Unia
Silence
The Days of Grays
Ecliptica
I'm not a fan of their debut either.
|
| |
Yeah I feel pretty much the same way, Reckoning is definitely my favorite power metal album ever. Everything about it is great. Mostly agree with the list except that I like DoG a bit more.
|
| |
"Absolutely. I know I'm in the minority among SA fans but I think they're way better. "
Ah you're not alone, I can't barely stand most of Ecliptica songs like My Land, Kingdom for a Heart, Letter to Dana, and the last three songs.
I'd go like
The Days of Grays
Unia
Winterheart's Guild
Silence
Reckoning Night
Ecliptica
|
| |
Reckoning Night is a really badass album
|
| |
Don't see how you put RN below at least Silence/Unia/WG. It's a kickass album.
|
| |
Winterheart's Guild was my first Sonata Arctica album. Will always have a soft spot just for it.
|
| |
WG is just amazing period, Gravenimage, Victoria's Secret, and The Cage are all winners for sure.
|
| |
"Winterheart's Guild was my first Sonata Arctica album. Will always have a soft spot just for it."
Me too, hence this reason I rate it higher than Silence and RN.
"Don't see how you put RN below at least Silence/Unia/WG. It's a kickass album."
It is a kickass album, Wildfire, Don't Say a Word and WPBO are among my all time fav SA songs. It's just the others are much more consistent, imo.

I fucking love Ecliptica and Unia. Unia is a really underrated gem, however I must say that it took like 10 listens to start really appreciating it because my annoying dad kept playing that album all the time when we were driving.
The Days of Grays had 3 fuckin' awesome songs (Deathaura, Flag in the Ground, The Last Amazing Grays) but the rest was BORING.
I'm not usually the one to complain about song titles but these one are insanely bad. What were they thinking?
