DragonForce: New Bassist

2006-02-14 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 11 Comments
DragonForce have announced the addition of current touring bassist Frederic Leclercq as a permanent member, replacing Adrian Lambert who left last year.

A Frenchman, Leclercq will add to the band's already international character: singer JP Theart is South African, guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman are from Honk Kong and New Zealand respectively, keyboardist Vadim Pruzhanov is Ukrainian, and drummer Dave Mackintosh is the only remaining British member.

DragonForce recently released their third album, 'Inhuman Rampage,' across Europe to rave reviews.

Wow, I had no idea the band was so international. I thought Herman was the only non-English member. Oh well, I hope this doesn't affect anything. Inhuman Rampage kicked ass.

I guess that rules out any impressive basswork on tour

Why?

Although I don't know much about bass, I never found DragonForce's bass work to be very impressive to begin with.

Adrien was an unbelievable bassist, and he knew how to smack his 6 stringed bass. You barely hear the bass on most albums, that doesnt mean it's not there. Having a new bassist who's really a guitarist says to me that I wont be impressed.

well, the bass on "body breakdown" was impressive, had some nice slap and pop bits in the solo sections.

Yeah that Body Breakdown bass part was brilliant.

The new bassist seemed to be okay when I saw DF a month ago, although I couldn't really hear him much. They didn't play Body Breakdown though
