Why u no canada
|
| |
no metalcore in pth
|
| |
protest the hero and scale the summit have to tour with these shitty deathcore bands
|
| |
This was bound to happen eventually.
|
| |
Djent band Periphery.
fuck you
|
| |
Protest The Hero are actually one of the few bands who frequently tour Canada so you can't really complain
|
| |
wish virginia
|
| |
nobody ever comes to virginia unfortunately
|
| |
I might try to go to the New York date.
|
| |
the grog shop is a great venue
|
| |
"protest the hero and scale the summit have to tour with these shitty deathcore bands" what?
|
| |
i'm going.
|
| |
holy....
sweet
|
| |
periphery stop touring and finish the album fags
|
| |
Can we please stop referring to bands as 'djent"?
|
| |
and wtf djent is not a genre dammit
|
| |
In agreement with Deviant.
|
| |
Yeah guys come on. Someone please edit the article to say "Progressive Metal band Periphery" so that people will know what they actually sound like.
|
| |
first few comments seemed so negative. Seems like an amazing show.
|
| |
4/20 @ gramercy that should be interesting
|
| |
Protest The Hero are actually one of the few bands who frequently tour Canada so you can't really complain
...because they are from St. Catherine's moron
|
| |
I'll probably be home for the Detroit date.
|
| |
milwaukee here i come
|
| |
This would be an entertaining show.
|
| |
Your a complete dumbass and lack musical taste.
|
| |
Sweet! I'm the last date on the tour.
|
| |
Ah shit. The show is the same day as Steven Wilson's! Too bad PTH, I'll have to pass on that one.
|
| |
@ciperion i'll see ya there.
|
| |
...because they are from St. Catherine's moron
...ok, his response was completely relevant and didn't need such information to support it. Calm down lol
|
| |
might go to the seattle show if periphery's vocalist doesn't go
|
| |
i think their is a lot of metalcore influence in PTH music, especially in the album Fortress.
I called Periphery Djent because Periphery sucks and Djent is an equally shitty way to categorize them
|
| |
"Your a complete dumbass and lack musical taste."
oh yeah? who are you referring to exactly?
|
| |
lol at people calling deathcore bands prog metal
|
| |
i would kill to see Protest so i'm definitely going, but seriously, fuck Periphery.
|
| |
i will never listen to anything that people label "djent"
|
| |
Fuck all of you elitists. Djent is fine. The only reason you hate it is because of the name. And don't get started on "Trends" because every musical genre evolves from these kinds of trends.
|
| |
Djent is a stupid fuckin genre name no doubt, but Periphery CALLS THEMSELVES DJENT.
so who gives a fuck
|
| |
well aren't you a feisty one
@ user MadMikeLove
and the fact that they call themselves that makes it even less appealing
|
| |
bahh. sorry for unnecessary outburst.
|
| |
almost as feisty as ur avatar Saty
|
| |
I hate it because an 8 string guitar's tone sounds like ass
and deathcore sucks
|
| |
Atlanta here I come
|
| |
PtH, besides being mediocre, are terrible live.
Periphery sucks.
What a shitty tour.
|
| |
why all the hate on periphery?
curious.
|
| |
How the hell does Periphery tack themselves onto every good band touring these days?
|
| |
Because it's djent garbage.
|
| |
FrankRedHot is redhot trolling
|
| |
PTH was actually pretty good live when i saw them, they were hilarious and the faces that the bassist
makes while playing is worth the price lol
|
| |
Periphery aren't bad they're just really sterile. They have some brilliant moments.
|
| |
they have a few cool moments when it comes to the guitars and drums.
but mostly they suck
|
| |
this tour won't take place in a basement or a shitty small town bar
bands suck
|
| |
I like Djent and Periphery.
That is all.
|
| |
If Periffery slimmed down a bit they'd be sexy, but there's a little too much extra girth right now.
|
| |
so what the fuck is djent then?
|
| |
Slang for a guitar tone
|
| |
Djent is palm muting nearly all the time and using these off-time polymeter riffs. Too my knowledge anyway. I play guitar but getting a cool "djent" riff to come out can be a bit tricky. Must go watch Master Misha's utub vids and meditate to Periphery.
|
| |
chug
ya ill be there
|
| |
Djent is just slang for a certain guitar tone. You really aren't confined to off time grooves or anything, just lots of fast paced chugging and breakdowns usually. It's like deathcore, but faster.
I realize that this is probably the worst description ever. I'm highhhh
|
| |
Ahhh ok. Yeah I probably don't know it well enough to give the best explanation. But yeah I got you dude.
|
| |
periphery calls themselves djent but only because they really don't give a shit what people call them, if you watch interviews with misha or look at basically any comments section in their youtube videos you'll know that they don't like the term just as much as anyone here apparently does. they just don't make as much as a deal about it.
anyway hopefully I'll be going to the dallas show, looking forward to protest the hero. and periphery, but to a lesser extent. hopefully they'll be playing new album stuff by that time.
|
| |
This should be good. Periphery's been getting a loooot better live lately.
|
| |
I'm definitely going.
|
| |
hate the word djent.
|
| |
haha. its fun to say IMO
|
| |
Progressive Metalcore band Protest the Hero
Djent band Periphery
you fail at music
|
| |
Two of my favorite bands. Protest the Hero are one of the brightests bands there. And you can't just apply a genre to them, cuz nothing fits. Well, my own oppinion is that they are progressive metalcore.
And about Periphery, yeah, they're djent. Any genre is recognised by it's type of playing, and the soud it produces. So why shouldn't djent be? It has a very specific sound to it, it requires a specific tehnic to play, so there you have it.
And I don't generally love djent. It still requires skill to make something interesting. I like only a few bands actually, Periphery, Uneven Structure, Vildhjarta, Tesseract, Fellsilent, Animals As Leaders and Volumes. Check them out.
|
| |
Oh, and I find djent to be progressive metalcore, just with polyrhythms.
|
| |
Fuck this U.S. tour bullshit. Looks like I have to go to New York.
"Oh, and I find djent to be progressive metalcore, just with polyrhythms."
LOL, djent is the poor attempt at making onomatopoeia the grounds for a genre. It's like if I called
country "twang." Poly-rhythms have nothing to do with it. But have fun validating your love for a made
up genre with delusions of it's grandeur.
[edit] The new york date is on my birthday, shits goin DOWN.
|
| |
periphery are pretty good, some of their shit is really boring but some of it is definitely cool. pth shit on em though
|
| |
"djent band periphery"
...
|
| |
"It's like if I called country 'twang.' Poly-rhythms have nothing to do with it."
The word itself means absolutely nothing. Words are VEHICLES for communication. They do not possess any inherent meaning... their meaning is given to them by PEOPLE. The only thing that matters is that the word in question successfully and efficiently conveys some type of information to a substantial number of people. Words can start out as one thing.. like onomatopoeia.. and then gradually garner other associations through usage.
The word "gay" used to convey happiness. Now, it is a way to convey sexuality. So are people using the word "gay" to describe sexuality wrong because that's not what the word initially meant? Of course not. That's the current association of the word so it is the most efficient choice when trying to convey information pertaining to sexuality. If in 50 years the word "gay" becomes associated with "sandwich", it would be just as valid to use it to convey the contents of a delicious lunch you just enjoyed.
"Djent" originally described a guitar tone. It has now gained popular association with other music characteristics, like rhythm. The only thing that matters is that this information is being successfully conveyed and that the association is widely recognized. That inherently makes the word valid in describing rhythmic information, or anything else that it has become associated with.
|
| |
seriously guys? periphery is not that bad...their vocalist may be annoying but theyre still incredibly talented and a very respectable metal band.
|
| |
^ agreed
|
| |
And about Periphery, yeah, they're djent. Any genre is recognised by it's type of playing, and the soud it produces.
LEAVE SPUTNIK NOW. DJENT IS NOT A FUCKING GENRE.
It would be like calling Brad Paisleys style of country Chikin Pickin cause thats how he plays the guitar.
|
| |
Shut up
|
| |
And I don't generally love djent. It still requires skill to make something interesting. I like only a few bands actually, Periphery, Uneven Structure, Vildhjarta, Tesseract, Fellsilent, Animals As Leaders and Volumes. Check them out.
And btw we've all checked them out and heard them
....derp....
|
| |
BEEEEEE...
CAREFUL WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE LOOKING BACK.
|
| |
Chuck, here's what I think you should do:
Shut up.
|
| |
I'm done, said what I had to say, I'm cool. Its all good
|
| |
Good, because no one cares and you're just wasting space.
|
| |
Going to this in Columbus. It's right next door to my favorite microbrewery in the lowly state of Ohio.
|
| |
Wait, I won't be home. For some reason I thought of March 11 instead of April. Might go to the Grog Shop date though.
|
| |
Good, because no one cares and you're just wasting space.
I care, thanks much.
|
| |
They're from Whitby not St.Catherines Moron.
|
| |
