Ex-GC Drummer Speaks Out 2006-09-30 by CanonInD | 19 Comments | First it was former Panic! at the Disco bassist Brent Wilson, who was fired, then threatened to sue his ex-bandmates. Now it's former Good Charlotte drummer Chris Wilson, who left the band last year due to "personal health problems" and has since kept busy manning the kits for Jacksonville, Florida, pop-punkers the Summer Obsession, reports MTV.com.
When his departure from GC was announced, it was followed by the de rigueur "we love him and wish him well" statement from his bandmates. Wilson contends those sentiments were less than sincere, given the actions of Good Charlotte masterminds Joel and Benji Madden in the year following his split.
"So I've kept my mouth shut for long enough," Wilson wrote on his MySpace page. "It has been roughly a year and a half since my departure from GC, and all I can say is, 'What the f---?' How many times can I possibly get stabbed in the back? I know I f---ed up, and I'm sincerely sorry for what I put you through. But why are you guys acting as if everything is OK? Why don't you start telling the kids about how I never made one cent off of any merch, CDs [or] DVDs, royalties (of songs I played on), publishing (songs I played on) or TV performances (in which I signed contracts stating exactly how much I was supposed to receive). Where did it go?
"Why do you still blow me off and never return phone calls?" he continued. "Why have I been trying for a year to get my gear back (four drum sets, wardrobe case, cymbals, etc.) with no assistance from you at all. I've been on the road with the Summer Obsession for almost the past year with a bullsh-- drum kit that's falling apart. Come on, Benji, I don't know how many times I've asked you, with you responding that you would get right on it. ... Tell your assistant or whoever does everything for you to please help me out. I'm tired of waiting."
And his rant didn't stop with royalties or stolen drum kits. He also accused the Madden brothers of paying him as a member of GC's road crew and forcing him to sign a contract, which "f---ed me out of anything." Wilson goes on to write that the Maddens promised his current band that they would be opening for GC on their headlining tour, a slot that ultimately went to the Pink Spiders. He also said the brothers took advantage of him while he was in the midst of a personal crisis, a state they helped put him in.
"The reason why I lost my mind was because I joined a band with two of the most egotistical, self-centered, back-stabbing, corrupted individuals who are filled with broken promises," he wrote. "You guys were my best friends and yet I wasn't good enough. What is going on? Come back to reality! You are complete contradictions to everything you would try to make fun of. You know what is crazy? I live in a f---ing van, you live in mansions! Where's the justification there?"
If Good Charlotte respond to his allegations, Wilson said he'll be waiting with a retort because he can't hide his feelings about his former bandmates any longer.
"You have broke one too many promises, and now it's time to call you out," he wrote. "I won't be ignored. ... Your fans will know! I have nothing to lose anymore! Hollywood has corrupted your souls, money means more to you than your own friends. I've done my part, now it's your turn. I'll be waiting patiently for your response. But just know, this is only the beginning. Until you treat me as though you honestly give a sh--, I'm going to spill this to everybody."

Oh dear.
| | | Oh cheers for pop-punk drama. Reminds me of my high school, with more money involved.
| | | psh
| | | same thing happened to Breaking Benjamin, he sued them because he said he wasnt getting paid for songs he helped write, then BB turned against his with a very powerful song. but i think it is stupid for people to sue old bandmates.
| | | It seems that a lot of lawsuits have come up recently. I'm expecting one from Rise Against regarding Skid Row's new album name.
| | | it lies within....... as we see
| | | You know this kinda makes sense since he was the one that was never in any of the photos or anything like that.
| | | Benji and Joel Madden: Charming slightly annoying/possibly gay poppers? Or evil co-conspirators in the plot to foil the career of their drummer?!?!
| | | before i post something about the news I jsut wanted to say I think its stupid how Godd Charlette try to look goth and stuff but aren't anything close. Next comment will actually be about the article.
| | | My freind used to love this band and he was saying he didn't even know the guys name and stuff because he wans't relaly in anything. Oh well boo hoo for the poor guy. what kind of health problems amde him quit the band? maybe he broke a bone or osmething but that doens't mean he had to quit.
| | | i'd rather be in the summer obsession cuz they get to perform on cartoon network
| | | That sucks. They have pretty much gone against everything they use to be about. If everything they did is true, then thats stupid on their part. It kinda seems a little late to me to finally tell someone after a year though.
| | | I'm not sure what I find funnier, the fact that he lives in a van or that his new band cares enough about him to let him live in a van.
| | | wow.
i'm from maryland (like GC) and am very proud of them...i guess up until now.
if they really were being shady and cuttin gthis kid out of his money, than i hope they get what they deserve.
but the whole hollywood corrupting them thing...it wouldn't surprise me...after all joel is dating hilary duff for gods sake.
| | | Hooray for MD! This is really crap, old GC was at least listenable, sort of bad but listenable. Has anyone heard their new song, I would rather listen to a high school band perform Metallica than listen to their new song. As for the new, that is terrible stuff and I hope it gets worked out.
| | | I knew something like this would happen, or at least I thought I knew. But I can't see all of this being true, the drummer is probably trying to get some sympathy votes or something.

Roy, did you get banned or something?
nah,it's just the double posting problem with my other account won't stop and it's getting annoying. so for now i'll just use this one on sputnik until the problem is fixed.
PS: If he lives in a van, how does he power his computer to get on MySpace?
and on the ninth day god made libraries with free internet use...and it was good.

| | | They can afford to pay him and return his stuff, so they should. Also, thier young fans seem to think they can do no wrong, so wont hate the band for being gits, they just wont believe it.
| | | i jsut read the other news and i guess he quit the band cus he was on addicted to drugs or something.
