Disturbed Plan To Record

2010-01-14 by Observer EMERITUS | 69 Comments
Disturbed have announced that they are heading into the studio next month to record their follow-up to 2008's Indestructible. Dan Donegan told The Pulse of Radio that the band will be working with Jonny K, who also worked with the band on their first three releases. Currently, the album is expected to be released by summer 2010.

I remember I stopped liking these guys right after I discovered other metal bands.
I might drop a listen, I might not.
They did do a pretty decent cover of Midlife Crisis, so I'll give them that much credit.

That was a good album.

If they can make a song as good as Stricken, I'll be happy.

Believe DID kick ass, it's actually somewhat of a concept album. Really lost their way after that tho.. too big of an ego me thinks.

Believe was really good.

On Indestructible, songs like The Night, Haunted, and Criminal were actually awesome. It was just that almost everything else on there sucked.

Down With The Sickness is a terrible song, one of their worst. It's a shame that that's what they're
known for, they have way better songs.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Donegan is a good guitarist, but sometimes, it just feels there should be more oomph in places. Imo Donegan could easily take duties on solo guitar and the band could hire a rhythm guitarist.

They're considered a "Gateway" metal band because they get a lot of plays on mainstream Rock radio, it's a good place for someone to find an interest in Metal.

Exactly. Another thing is that someone's riff-creativity can only stretch so far...and Disturbed's riffs are, for lack of a better term, pretty boring. I think they are a solid outfit, but I would never buy their albums because I find their music to be pretty boring.

There are times though when I listen to them and I'm like, man this song is one riff and harmony away from being pretty dang good.

And yea I agree completely that they're a 'gateway' metal band....notice how their supporting acts are often times actual metal bands. Maybe not what metal snobs on this site might aprove of, but metal nonetheless.
