Bruce Talks Iron Maiden Album

2006-06-29 by Stormy Smiley Face | 10 Comments
Bruce Dickinson recently spoke to the U.K. magazine Kerrang about Iron Maiden's next recording. The album is titled "A Matter of Life and Death" and is due September. Kevin Shirley, who produced the bands last two albums, was on board again at Sarm West Studios (London).

'Brave New World' and 'Dance Of Death' were both good records, but they weren't anywhere near as good as this one! This one is 'Dance of Death' without the effort. This whole album feels effortless. It's like driving a big, gas-guzzling motor car. You just put your foot down and there's limitless power under the bonnet."

The first single is titled, "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", and is said to be seven-minutes long.

"It's very different for us." admitted Harris. "It's very riffy. The intro has an almost nursery rhyme eeriness. Sometimes you try to create a mood and sometimes it's just there. Everyone's going to ask who Benjamin Breeg is, but you'll just have to find out for yourself!"

^^^well listen to Number of the Beast. it just flows, and feels effortless, ditto for piece of mind and seventh son.

so that would point to this album being pretty excellent!

I can't wait for the new album, but I hope that they can still create the same great music they made more than two decades ago.

I give them the advantage of doubt.

Hopefully it's good. I mean it's Maiden after all.

Whatever they write, I doubt the music will be much different from anything Maiden have put out before at all.

But you know "if it ain't broke" and all that.

Yet again may I say that Maiden have never done a sub-par album with Adrian Smith, only with Mr Gers, and it is encouraging to see Adrian largely involved with the writing aspects again. I am confident that this will be more than just a solid album.
