Orphaned Land Now Recording

Israeli progressive death metal group Orphaned Land has officially begun recording their new album "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR" with progressive metal legend Steven Wilson in charge of production who states:
"Finally! I am very happy and look forward to mix Orphaned Land's new album, I'm sure this will be one of the greatest and most original albums in the metal scene!"
Orphaned Land's vocalist, Kobi Farhi, also commented:
"Hello there to all the Orphaned warriors of light - we are very happy that we finally entered the studio to deliver you the long awaited concept album - "ORwarriOR"! The album is going to be more than 70 minutes long and as usual many traditional instruments and languages will be involved in the process. In my opinion this is the best Orphaned Land album ever! We can't wait for you to put your hands on it and we look forward to tour and meet you all on the road! Your Orphaned brother - Kobi."
The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR is expected to be released in the Fall later this year via Century Media Records.

seems a little pretentious, but its prog, and mabool is an epic album so I think this is going to slay.

Weird, I asked what these guys were up to just the other day on the Asgaut review. Nice. Too bad for Rasputin that Wilson is producing.....This Message Edited On 05.04.09

Lol fanboys. But i am looking forward to this. If they can improve on some of the weaknesses of their last effort, it will be fantastic.

The name has some kind of legitimate meaning so it's not as stupid as some may think.

Theres a problem with that because there were no weaknesses.

I would like to see them make the metal not so mediocre. And I would prefer no gargantuan, boring tracks like "The Storm Still Rages Inside".

What? The Storm Still Rages Inside is fucking great.

The only improvements I would mind seeing is more folk instrumentals, better clean male vocals, and more female vocals.

Agreed on the female vocals.

ZooYorker pretty much nails it. And Hawks, I cannot sit through that song. It grates on me terribly. If it weren't so essential to the flow of the album, I'd skip it and go immediately to "Rainbow".

I don't know how you don't like it man, but I respect your opinion. I still need to check out the albums that came out before Mabool too.

Yeah, I do too. Mabool came with a bonus disc with live performances and some of their older tracks that I still need to listen to.

I'm immersed in Kayo Dot right now, and both Mikael Akerfeldt and Toby Driver have a unique talent of making me not want to listen to anything except their music for a while, lol.

pretty funny that someone currently listening to kayo dot would criticize another band for having "gargantuan, boring tracks".

Wilson will probably just make it sound a little more polished. I doubt he'll end up doing much, he's probably attached as a name more than anything.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to jump on the Steven Wilson hate wagon. He just makes everything sound too polished. he takes the human feel away from the songs he produces. I'm still looking forward to this the only middle eastern metal band that I like.

You're a little late, they've been in-studio recording for just shy of two months now. Anyway, I thought for sure they'd change the new album's title to suit an international audience, but hey I guess more power to them. The original concept name was "The Neverending Way of ORwarriOR". OR is the Hebrew word for "light" so it's basically "the never-ending way of the warrior of light." Interesting concept, but hopefully Steven Wilson doesn't give this album the Porcupine Tree treatment.

Blackwater Park is definitely not boring.

It's definitely not as good as the Opeth albums before it, further proof that whatever Wilson touches becomes less good. The further he intervened into Opeth, the worse their albums became. And don't even get me started on how artificial and bland Porcupine Tree and Blackfield are.

They didn't suck, but they do get pretty obnoxious after a while. His voice sounds like it's much better suited to chanting (such as in the end of "Halo Dies") than doing the soaring choruses of Ocean Land and such.
