Lost wins again
greatest sounding description of a song ever...will be epicThis Message Edited On 12.16.08

So they must write with charts like Dream Theater then?
|
| |
Hope it sounds like 'Colors'.
|
| |
I'm not even sure they understand the song they wrote.
|
| |
song sounds stupid as fuck when they talk about it
but im sure itll be good once its released so i really dont care
|
| |
MEGADETH chorus
|
| |
Do these guys just try to copy a million bands when writing songs instead of simply trying to write songs?
|
| |
Nah its more likely that they just use the charts to play back the songs then to rip off bands when writing.
|
| |
It's also a reference point. You know like, when they play a certain riff and it kinda sounds like Mastodon and you don't know the proper musical notation you just call it "that Mastodon riff in 3/4".
|
| |
Sounds jus tlike BTBAM's style of blending EVERYTHING together. Sounds stupid when it's written down but will most likely sound great.
|
| |
I'm hoping for a few more clean vocal parts on the new album. I loved the instrumental work on Colors, but the harsh vocals annoyed me a lot.
|
| |
Goodies.
|
| |
Hopefully this is just as good or better than Colors.
|
| |
haha my band describes our songs like that also..
hopefully this will be as amazing as Colors
|
| |
Hope it sounds like 'Colors'.
I hope it sounds like Between the Buried and Me.
|
| |
nice!
|
| |
looking forward to it.
|
| |
Cool, this means another tour. Missed these fuckers last time.
|
| |
Hope it s better than colors even though that'll be hard.
|
| |
CANNOT WAIT! But it'll probably be another six to nine months before its comes out though.
|
| |
my band used to do that sorta other-band reference thing, but now we give our songs themes. like the burger-based song has a bacon part, a cheese part, a meat part, and baps. yeah.
|
| |
*sigh* Now I'll have to put up with everyone having group masturbation to this.
|
| |
LOL at the idiots getting mad at the name droping! Its a reference point, don't get your panties in a twist.
|
| |
I used to use bands as a reference point when I wrote back in the day then I started trying to find my own sound and simply write songs and I didn't think about it sounding like a Xasthur part or what not anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like Alaska, but a lot of their stuff just sounds like thirty well-known bands putting different parts into a song. This Message Edited On 12.16.08

2009 is gonna be a metal orgy
|
| |
I'll care if they drop Tommy
|
| |
Well, in the past Tommy has been the main songwriter. He sort of stopped on Colours (which explains a bit).
|
| |
I'm stoked
|
| |
I wouldn't mind the harsh vocals being a bit more energetic, they sounded a little too homogenous on colors.
and i wouldn't mind them being less flashy w/ their technicality, since by now, everyone knows how well they can play their instruments.
and i wouldn't mind less moments like the beginning of "sun of nothing" from colors
|
| |
Sun of Nothing is flawless why would you not want something to sound that good
|
| |
Nah, the beginning of "Sun of Nothing" is kinda boring compared to the rest of the song I guess. Pretty sure this album will awesome if it's anywhere near as good as Colors was.
|
| |
Best news I have heard in a long time.
As far as the name dropping, tons of bands do this and it almost never really sounds like the bands they named. When you have dozens and dozens of riffs, you have to name them something while you're working on them.
To quote and alter Pebster above, "Don't get your panties in an uproar."
|
| |
yea, still have yet to hear that "Mars Volta-ish song" on the new Metallica...sometimes bands are silly

Yes, I'm sure your band is much more original sounding that Between the Buried and Me. lol
Oh, and I got a boner when I read this news article.

Actually yeah, my band is. Just because a band isn't signed to a major label doesn't mean they can't be good or original. Stupid people are so stupid.
|
| |
Yeah, perhaps you are more original. In your case, I'm guessing "original sounding" is 4-5 losers in their garage banging around on cheap instruments through shitty amps while their ugly girlfriends watch.

Yep, Between the Buried and Me is signed to a major label. You know, Victory Records and their majorness.
Jackass.

Apparently it is cool Jizz. Not sure exactly why though... Not like it's that hard to be more original than BTBAM.

LOL, what an ass. It's actually a two man band and I do all the songwriting. And no we do not play in a garage and I have pretty good equipment. But why argue with you. You're obviously just going to take offense and say something else idiotic. You act like BTBAM are your boyfriends or something.

Despite Victory being an indie label, they are pretty ****ing huge. If you're going to argue that then I will say that you are in fact a moron.
|
| |
My band is more original than yours, so much so, that record labels refuse to sign us.
