HORSE The Band Drummer Arrested 2008-09-08 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 29 Comments | HORSE The Band were forced to cancel their show in Memphis on Saturday night when drummer Daniel Pouliot was arrested for weed possession and held on a $3,000 bail.
The promoters issued the following statement:

We apologize for the show ending early. The drummer for HORSE the band was arrested for undisclosed reasons - that's why they were unable to play. The band chose not to give refunds to their fans, as they need that money for bail and other expenses attached with possibly having to cancel any of their upcoming tour dates.
Please understand that unfortunate things do happen sometimes, and again we are sorry that tonight was one of those times. We hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and we'd love to see you at another show soon.

The band responded to accusations that they had stolen fans' money by not issuing refunds with the following response:

I don't know who posted the original news item, or if he was even actually there, but people seemed to have extrapolated a lot from a very small amount of information. We basically walked into a sting operation by the local Moral Decency Commission to keep "bands like us" out of their peaceful god-fearing community. When we arrived at the show there were already cops all over the place. A representative from a local group of concerned mothers handed us a stack of our lyrics printed out, highlighting which of the words we weren't allowed to say. We were instructed by the police to take down several of our merch designs because of their innapropriate content. Meanwhile, So Many Dynamos, Heavy Heavy Low Low, and a local band have played their sets, while we are pretty much hiding in our van, waiting for our turn. As me and Daniel are setting up our equipment on stage, 2 policemen ask to search our van for no reason at all. Dash allowed them in, because we were under the impression that our van was clean. I guess our drummer had forgotten about the small, almost unuseable amount of hash that he had left in the bottom of his backpack (he has a medical use card in california). The cops found it, handcuffed me and stuffed me in the back of the police car because I own the vehicle. They let me go, but took Daniel off to jail. Bail was set at $3000, and we couldn't use a bail bondsman because we were from out of state.
If we wanted to play the next 2 shows, we were going to have to come up with the cash that night, at 12am. So we took out the daily max from all of our ATMs, and together with the nights guarantee, we had just enough to get him out and make it to the next show. We gave free t-shirts to the kids that stuck around wondering what had happened. It's up to the promoter to figure out how to deal with kids wanting refunds (after all, SMD and HHLL had to get paid too) We'd be more than willing to give the attendees a voucher for a free show next time, but the option was never put on the table. We'll make it up to Memphis next time we come through, one way or another.....although I'm sure the Decency League will try find a way to fuck with us again

Wow lyrics printed out and highlighted as to what they could say in a private environment with paying customers and merch designs taken down. Did the first amendment change? Don't really care for the band and they were dicks (or at least came off that way) when I saw them but this is ridiculous.

I remember the first time seeing HHLL with The #12 Looks Like You and Fear Before the March of Flames. and I said to myself, 'This band sucks and yet, I bet they will get somewhat big.' Granted they aren't huge but they are way bigger than I expected

My buddy saw them last night in New Orlens, LA and he told him he was arrested for the possession of "Hash" that he got from being a member of the Cannibus Club.
Apparently you have to live in the part of califorina where the cannibus club is and just have to have some sort of doctors note to get in, the drummer from HORSE said he had anxiety..
