Back in the day, Metallica had put a huge amount of reverb on James' voice. For the last two albums, including Death Magnetic, it has been straight up James'. I can understand why people start to dislike the vocals, a little tweak and everyone gets harsh.

I agree....its a trend to hate metallica and if you jump on the bandwagon it makes people think you know what you are talking about. But in reality, if you know anything about music you know the impact Metallica has made.

It's ok. It still isn't really metal in the sense that MOP or AJFA were, but it's better than St. Anger. Perhaps a bit better than load and reload? James vocals are ok, his lyrics aren't. I'll check out the album, I'll probably like it but only as a 3 possibly 3.5 if it doesn't have too much filler.This Message Edited On 09.03.08

Its alright, the songs have their moments, but I don't think as a whole this album delivers.

Metallica need to stop releasing so many singles off of their album, it's making the wait much less exciting if we keep hearing songs, it will also cut into album sales if people dislike the three songs that have been released. Deftones haven't released anything off of Eros, and because of that, I can't wait. By the way, has anyone heard a release date for Eros?

This album is the missing link between And Justice for All and Black Album. I think it's a 3.5.

Seriously, the album smokes! To make it short and sweet, Rick Rubin just had to wake up Metallica, and he did. Hammett.....is on FIRE! I dont know what else to say. Just LISTEN! My God , just listen!

And Spamwise, refer to "The Judas Kiss" on the new album. Hammet rips it!

It's pretty good I have to say... Some dull moments but my highlights would be the openings to Unforgiven III and All Nightmare Long (Shame about that shit track title...). Plus all the guitar solos dotted everywhere are something for Kirk to be proud about. For me, I'm currently hovering in the 3.5-4 section (not decided yet, of course, needs more listens).

liking the studio version of this song, lyrics are still a small disappointment though. Still looking forward to the album though, just pre-ordered it, some of it reminds me of justice :D
Also, I've noticed the subject of metallica seems to cause more arguements than anything else these days...

This songs pretty good, and the rest of the album isn't terrible ! I'm so happy I can say that ! It is way to long though, I think its like 70 some minutes. Some songs overstay there welcome a bit. My impression right now is maybe a 3.5 probably a 3.0

I prefer TDTNC to the other 2 singles, but this is ok. Avoiding the leak, going to wait until the 12th to hear it fully and form an opinion.
