Pumpkins Back in Action?

2006-01-19 by pulseczar | 10 Comments
As www.nme.com reports, Smashing Pumpkins may very well be back:

Smashing Pumpkins are strongly rumoured to be reforming this summer for live shows - with Coachella touted as their comeback.

Singer Billy Corgan has made no secret of the fact he wants to reform his old band, and NME.COM has learned the band are set to make their comeback at the Californian festival on April 30.

Billy Corgan had taken out a full page advertisement in 2005 for his intentions to revive the Smashing Pumpkins, who played their final show December 2nd, 2000. He released his solo album a month after that advertisement was taken out.

On his myspace, Billy had told his fans to be ready for a surprise. It's safe to say this was as big a surprise as it got.

Ex-Zwan and Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain has already stated that he's with Billy for the reunion. It is still unknown whether guitarist James Iha, or either bassist D'Arcy (1988-1999 with Pumpkins) and Melissa Auf Der Maur (2000 with Pumpkins) will be in the reunion.

Ooooooh I hope it's true. Smashing Pumpkins are my favourite band and I would want nothing more than to see them reunited.

That we be cool is the Pumpkins reunited, but if they made another album I would probably be disappointed by the outcome.

I think there's a mistake or typo in the article. The Pumpkins last show couldn't have been December 2, 2005 or else this wouldn't be news. Wasn't it closer to 2000?

The shows would be excellent, but what about a new album. Would it be any good seeing that after MCATIS they started to go downhill
