I'm probably the only one who will say they didn't enjoy this album...at all, and this is coming from someone who absolutely loved the first two.

Maybe it'll grow on me...

well that sounds completely different from what I thought it would be like. much more like Toby Driver's solo album, more chamber music and jazz and less (i.e. no?) metal and even more experimental than the last two albums, but I'm only half way through now ;)

I already have a feeling that this will need a lot of listens to completely unfold. This Message Edited On 04.22.08

I really liked this on my initial listen. Compositionally this sounds like it's the most complex Kayo Dot album yet and it shows, there's just such an immense tension in the sound that finally releases in the absolutely gorgeous Symmetrical Arizona. I can't wait to listen to this a lot more upon it's release.

Alright, I'll at least give Symmetrical Arizona some credit, it's pretty brilliant.

I really love how the entire album seemed to twist and turn building tension, only sometimes releasing it then Symmetrical Arizona comes on and everything just feels like it has come together in final catharsis. Just my first impression though. Toby Driver is a musical genius, truly brilliant.

Huh. I had no idea these guys were recording a new album any time soon. SCOOOORE.

EDIT: This is really good. And, like whenever I like to Kayo Dot, it almost makes me question my own taste in music and makes me wonder why I enjoy this. "Symmetrical Arizona" wants to kill me in my sleep, but I'd enjoy it.This Message Edited On 04.22.08

I was listening to this in AP Journalism and the teacher came over to me.

"What are you listening to?"

To which I said

"Kayo Dot..

I don't know how much I like it. It's by far their most avant garde material, and there were times on my first listen I was craving an actual beat, but I think it may grow on me. Symmetrical Arizona is great etc.

I don't know how much I like this either, but it's grown on me since I first listened to it, which is what I expected it to. Probably gonna end up at 3.5/4 range.
