Pete Doherty sent to jail 2008-04-08 by Iai EMERITUS | 21 Comments | After years of lauding his idiocy over less rich (and thus more criminally culpable) people, Pete Doherty has finally been packed off to jail. Rather than being charged with injecting a sleeping girl with heroin, or with rape, or driving dangerously, or with possession with intent to sell, he is instead going to serve time for 'violating probation'. The sentence for this, sadly, is only 14 weeks.
Babyshambles fans will be disappointed to hear that this means a planned gig at the Royal Albert Hall in April has been cancelled. I say 'hear', specifically, because none of them can read. Doherty's spokesman said something to some magazine or other but nobody really cares.
