Ah ah ah, they changed the cover. It looks more serious.

Could this mean a reunion ?

They put out a few songs three ago that were awesome under the name Lucifer Ascending.
"Lucifer Ascending features instrumental and staff work from fellow ex-Sybreed members Drop and Ales Campanelli, however it is considered a solo project of Benjamin Nominet."

I'm gonna spin a few albums of theirs as a celebration.

Antares is one of the best metal albums ever full stop, reunion would be sick.

Antares was the soundtrack to a pretty major transitional period in my life. Still slaps. Would love for them to try recording some new material

yeah the original rules. I think the slower half-sung vocals in some tracks could be a bit clearer

I always loved the generosity of the songwriting in their music, among other things.

@wretched.
I think Sybreed's albums suffer a bit from the tracklisting. (On Antares and God is an Automaton mainly)
On Antares, Dynamic and Neurodrive arrive a bit late at the party and Isolate too early.
Permafrost and Twelve Megatons Gravity would also have been welcome earlier on the album.

"what are the sybreed guys even up to these days?"

Everyone except Ben moved on to a project called Obsydians which is basically Sybreed+a revolving door of guest vocalists. Ben himself eventually formed a new band with Kris Norris and one of the guys that did drums for Static-X that I've admittedly yet to listen to, but from what I've seen has been described as fairly Sybreed-ish. There's also Ben's solo project of which to note Drop has contributed some work to, which is the first instance of them working with Ben again since the split.

first two albums by these guys were fun, if incredibly Meshuggah-pilled (mostly the debut)

Damn. I'm now going to be disappointed if they don't get back together for at least one album.
Drop and Ben made songs together in 2021. They were great.
Now, two re-recordings of old tracks. New album covers for Antares and Slave Design and a remaster for the latter.
Why blowing the dust off all this if not for a comeback ?

Mnemic also reformed for a few concerts. I don't know. Maybe the audience is more ready for that kind of music ? Everybody is praising Fear Factory now that it's been destroyed.
