R.I.P. Brian Mcbride 2023-08-27 by DadKungFu EMERITUS | 25 Comments | Brian Mcbride of Stars of the Lid has died at 53. As half of arguably the most influential ambient/drone project since Eno, Mcbride incorporated minimalist and classical influence, samples, strings, drones and glacial guitars in a musical relationship with bandmate Adam Wiltzie that spanned half the country, three decades and seven albums, the last two of which are considered by many to be the pinnacle of their style. The cause of death has not been released.

been listening to refinement consistently for the last decade. i loved all of stars' stuff and i really liked brian's solo records too. this hits hard.
