Song owns very hard, I like it more than a good handful of tracks on s/t and that's saying a lot considering how much I liked s/t lol.
Very hype for the deluxe, I need to hear that Muse cover lmao
|
| |
yea this woulda been an ez top 5er off self titled, altho it being written after the fact just shows theyre only gonna get sicker and sicker lol. song is ridiculously good super stoked for those other two originals
|
| |
how come every song by these guys is an absolute snoozefest
|
| |
thats an understatement, its more absolutely atrocious then it is boring
|
| |
Well from what I've known about you on the site I'd just say you don't dig this style, because this is truly peak of this little pocket of metalcore at this point in time imo. What is it that you don't really vibe with? And what do you wanna hear as opposed to what they do? It's certainly not a sound that every core fan will like I totally get that
|
| |
Progressive metalcore at its best.. I liked their first album, then the next ones not so much but their last year's s/t was definitely one of the best best progmetal releases of 2021.. yeah, I want more the new ERRA as they write right now only great songs
|
| |
Should’ve just released an EP instead of this regurgitation
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
nigh to my arse
|
| |
don swangin that thang around
|
| |
"thats an understatement, its more absolutely atrocious then it is boring"
You 5'd a Chief Keef album. Opinion disregarded.
|
| |
Song is a bit more mid tempo, which I really dig. That part around 2:48 is groovy as hell
|
| |
Rad. I really need to actually get into this band, I keep liking what I hear.
|
| |
"You 5'd a Chief Keef album. Opinion disregarded."
Relax. Keef's got classics in the genre.
|
| |
"What is it that you don't really vibe with?"
the lack of variety, the over-polished production, the predictable song structures
|
| |
Projetc - ok, showed us progmetalcore bands that have different song structurure than ERRA? As a massive progmetal fan, I want to discover new progmetal or progmetalcore bands that do better music than ERRA
|
| |
Misho just listen to Invent Animate. They're not radically different from these guys but they execute the whole progcore style waaaaay better than Erra.
|
| |
Also listen to Elitist's Caves ep, and Reshape Reason.
|
| |
Legendary banger. Even sounds slightly heavier than the last self-titled album release. Good God, I love it!!
|
| |
You just making me crave new IA jeet
|
| |
gimme gimme
|
| |
"thats an understatement, its more absolutely atrocious then it is boring"
it's been a circle jerk recently with bands such as Erra and Invent Animate, comments like these are oddly refreshing, hells yeah
|
| |
im all about the invent animate circle jerk
|
| |
This a circle jerk environment only sorry
|
| |
hey Jay ;)
|
| |
JeetJeet Of course I know about Invent, Animate.. I like them but I definitely prefer new ERRA to them .. I don't know why would I need to like one band and hate the other one.. you know guys, you can like more bands than just one - I like ERRA, I like Invent, Animate and I like other progmetalcore bands .. still, I like new ERRA a little bit more than IA - better groove, better melodies, better heavier parts, better vocals, more complex song structures and so on but still IA are great.. but yeah, this is Sputnik so I either like one or the other band, otherwise my taste is shit.. well, fuck Sputnik then
|
| |
Hey outy 😘
|
| |
more complex song structures wat
|
| |
Get out while you can misho. This place is full of snobs and degens.
|
| |
i too love both ia and erra and there is nothing wrong with that! i dont even know how we got to a point where that needed to be said lol
|
| |
69 comments nice
|
| |
And why are we comparing these bands
They both good
|
| |
Not bad but kinda boring
|
| |
Song rips, if only they had a different harsh vocalist
|
| |
Bring back Garrison pls
|
| |
"because this is truly peak of this little pocket of metalcore at this point in time imo"
For me that is still Augment. But this song actually reminded me of that album in few parts.
Specially that groovy guitar during Jesse's vocal part.
|
| |
Key phrase in Steak's statement was "at this point in time".
|
| |
"You 5'd a Chief Keef album. Opinion disregarded."
trippin bruh thot breaker crushes any of your past present and future 5s
|
| |
this song is giving me an Erra-ction,
|
| |
nice
|
| |
"the lack of variety, the over-polished production, the predictable song structures"
this x9999! If you heard 1 song of this band, you literally heard them all.
also, both vocalists are fucking terrible, but especially the clean one.
|
| |
"If you heard 1 song of this band, you literally heard them all"
Absolutely untrue lmao
|
| |
Why is it always black metal fans saying shit like that unironically? xD
|
| |
Turns out all they had to do was consult with Courtney one time to get their groove back. This slams. Good trajectory for whatever their next album is.
|
| |
“Why is it always black metal fans saying shit like that unironically”
This made me lol. Too trve
|
| |
Would’ve never known that this song, skyline, and obscure words were by the same band without the vocalists. Don’t get that take at all
|
| |
ya as someone where both incarnations of the band have put out literally my favorite music ever, i typically do understand where the criticism this band faces comes from and its j usually all stuff i like/dont mind about the band so idc thus j kinda reaffirming why i love them lol, but i have never for a second understood the whole "all their songs sound the same" comment. seen it a couple of times and especially nowadays i dont hear it at all. theyve been cyclin through a lotta different vibes lately
ill cop to their song structures rn not being the most diverse but they dont need to be when all the parts rule! lotta those songs wouldnt be as successful without revolving around the hook bc the hooks all kick ass, plus the verses vary up the riffing on most tracks anyway so its not even like theyre particularly repetitive songs
|
| |
I have basically zero expectations for any of the covers based on that dog shit QOTSA one they released a couple years back. Has to be one of the worst covers I've ever heard lmao
|
| |
"the predictable song structures"
that's my biggest issue with it, it's painfully obvious what is going to come next in this song. pretty part > heavy part > chorus > repeat> breakdown > end
|
| |
That did suck big time
|
| |
Guess this is a no-no from me. Still love their first two albums, especially Augment, to bits.
|
| |
Yeah those albums own
|
| |
"Nooooo bands must push the envelope and do something no band has ever done before or its shit!!1!"
- u mfs
|
| |
they clearly aren't pushing the envelope but they're also definitely not the same as they were. kicking alan out was a gigantic mistake
|
| |
yah they really miss alan. their riff writing got super plain after he dipped. i’m kinda only into this band for their melodic stuff now cuz almost all of the heavy parts are boring. altho i will say electric twilight on the s/t is a certified banger
|
| |
"better vocals"
yup I hate the new IA vocalist
"Get out while you can misho. This place is full of snobs and degens."
yes you're one of them
"Absolutely untrue lmao"
Nah that's true, you're just putting the band on a high horse cause you like them a lot. They have shifted in sound, yes, but that was about 7 years ago. Ever since 2018 they've been pretty stagnant, and they've only dumbed the music down on every release it seems. Their current output has sounded samey as hell, it's executed well, but samey nonetheless.
|
| |
|
| |
"i’m kinda only into this band for their melodic stuff now cuz almost all of the heavy parts are boring."
I've always found the heavy parts of Erra pretty lacking honestly, melody is king in this band. They've always been kind of an afterthought to me as is, but here I think it's even more so. Here it feels like JT is literally just here to scream some things and then leave, cause its metalcore, they have to do that. The formula is just so blatant.
|
| |
is "starting and ending really soft but consolidating all the heavy and riffage in the middle" not a different formula than the songs that are mostly centered around the heavy or centered around the cleans? lol
|
| |
Man, I don’t get this band at all. They are beloved on here and at most shows I used to go to pre-pandemic and they’re so fucking boring to me.
The part at 2:48 is pretty sick, but I hate both vocalists so much.
|
| |
Garth, check their first two - they had a different vocalist on those ones
|
| |
listen to their Andromeda ep too Girth
|
| |
Weird to love BoO so much and be bored by Erra though To be honest
Lol Girth. Jeet been sexting that auto correct hit hard ;)
|
| |
Lmfaooo
What's her name Jeet?
|
| |
you're just putting the band on a high horse cause you like them a lot
|
| |
"Lol Girth. Jeet been sexting that auto correct hit hard ;)"
lmfao
|
| |
Some of the “these guys are absolutely terrible” comments are so dramatic. I completely understand if this genre or band in general aren’t someone’s cup of tea, but also it’s ridiculous to imply these guys aren’t very talented
Regarding song structure- This is basically mainstream Metalcore (and this is a single)…. why would anyone expect this to be an experimental prog song
|
| |
Augment best album in genre. Agreed?
|
| |
id say impulse but theyre 1 and 2 for sure
|
| |
I'm more of a stillworld guy, but those 2 are prime for sure
|
| |
It's still safe within the genre, but there's a lot to appreciate regarding some of the experimentation being done here. Good stuff.
|
| |
""Nooooo bands must push the envelope and do something no band has ever done before or its shit!!1!""
whenever I complain about a band being predictable, it is implied that they're also not doing the safe thing particularly well
otherwise my take would be "doesn't do anything new but I dig it"
|
| |
What project said
|
| |
Aw shucks, I was hoping the Muse cover would be Hysteria
|
| |
Well not quite
|
| |
Is it just me or is the mix totally off on this
Guitars are way to loud, vocals don't mix correctly
Drums sound dope tbh
|
| |
