I've been a pretty vocal supporter (and defender) of the band's current line-up and output, but unless Scott comes back to the current version of Queensryche or starts his own version with Chris DeGarmo, I don't know how supportive I can be.
He's a great drummer, though, so I'll just wait quietly for now.
|
| |
I swear to fucking christ if he's starting his own Queensryche
|
| |
lookie what have we got here, it's a band people like one or two albums of for nostalgic reasons that has not released anything of note in over three decades apart from about a dozen godawful side-incarnations
|
| |
HE WILL IMPREGNATE THE DAUGHTERS
of calofresius.
|
| |
DeGarmo and Queensryche in the same sentence after 30 years? That's totally unexpected.
|
| |
>For anyone still following the band
I sleep
>DeGarmo
I awake
he's with Alice in Chains now though, im cool with that
|
| |
We're beginning to realize that maybe Geoff Tate wasn't the only problem this band had.
|
| |
Since when is DeGarmo with AIC, outside of playing on one song from their latest record?
|
| |
Can't wait for this new record, Ferocity Unchallenged
Already been 2 'Ryches, though, they gotta be careful
|
| |
"outside of playing on one song from their latest record?"
He toured/played for two of Cantrell's solo albums, played with him on Spys4Darwin, and on the latest AIC album, so I'm going with "he's more of AiC than Queensryche at this point."
|
| |
Fuck this! I’m starting my own Queensrÿche!
|
| |
"Fuck this! I’m starting my own Queensrÿche!"
Tate has the monopoly on the blackjack and hookers, though.
|
| |
The Queensrÿche Cinematic Universe just got bigger.
|
| |
"The Queensrÿche Cinematic Universe"
lol
|
| |
Sounds like I am getting double the Queensryche albums.
WORKS FOR ME.
|
| |
LMAO, the drama never ends with this band.
|
| |
The KISS of progressive metal
|
| |
'He toured/played for two of Cantrell's solo albums, played with him on Spys4Darwin, and on the latest AIC album, so I'm going with "he's more of AiC than Queensryche at this point."'
but again, he only assisted on 1 AIC song....he's not even close to being part of that band
|
| |
and sputnik now needs to make 'Queensryche' a genre
|
| |
i just want a tate and degarmo reunion tour
Is that too much to ask?
|
| |
Are there 3 versions of this band now?
|
| |
well Tate's version of queensryche was terrible and it's dead now or at least I assume it is. Geoff needs to go all acoustic as it suits his voice better, especially live.
Before they all die I'd love to see a version of the band with Tate, Todd, and Degarmo all together.
|
| |
"he's with Alice in Chains now though, im cool with that"
Lolwut
|
| |
and sputnik now needs to make 'Queensryche' a genre [1000]
|
| |
Pretty sure Tate has no love for Todd so that ain't happening. Also people give Tate's era too much shit. He had some fuck ups but it was a lot better than people say.
His cover of Welcome to the Machine is one of the best cover songs ever made.
|
| |
always some drama with this fuckin band
|
| |
saw them a couple years ago, they were alright but setlist was lacking imo. id like to catch taints band sometime
|
| |
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/queensryche/2019/heaven-the-masquerade-atlanta-ga-392d9b7.html
fates were also a bit on the snoozer side
|
| |
'Also people give Tate's era too much shit. He had some fuck ups but it was a lot better than people say.'
They were the best progressive metal band doing it and it wasn't even close, at least in terms of popularity. Dream Theater can only thank them for shitting the bed, which allowed Petrucci and company to rise to the top. EP through Promised Land is as good a run as a discography can get.
|
| |
double post shitty ass website
|
| |
"shitty ass website"
Sput needs to get wiped
|
| |
"lookie what have we got here, it's a band people like one or two albums of for nostalgic reasons that has not released anything of note in over three decades apart from about a dozen godawful side-incarnations"
This got me unreasonably heated.
|
| |
my goodness they made you a contributing reviewer?
shitty ass website [2]
|
| |
some thoughts:
-Todd has a bit of lead-singer-itis, the more I hear his interviews over the years. I legitimately think he's one of the great metal vocal talents we've ever seen, but his ego is starting to give me pause.
-I want SRock back in the band. He's a truly underrated drummer and a core part of their sound. Grillo has done a wonderful job, though.
-I think Chris laid QR to rest in his mind, well and truly, after Tribe. No sense in pining for something that will never happen.
|
| |
I'm gonna start my own Queensryche. With black jack, and hookers! You know what? Forget about Queensryche.
|
| |
RE: Chris, dude sold his stake in the QR catalog a couple of years ago, he's about as done as it gets at this point.
"LMAO, the drama never ends with this band."
It got quiet for a while up until now. But yeah, when it comes to drama, they're probably only beat by Fear Factory imo
|
| |
but again, he only assisted on 1 AIC song....he's not even close to being part of that band [2]
|
| |
"The Queensrÿche Cinematic Universe just got bigger."
lmao best comment
|
| |
Were there a bunch of people on the sideline waiting for Scott to form his own version of the band? "Finally, Scott Rockenfield is speaking for the *true* 'Ryche fans!"
Todd and the gang have put out some great material, I just want more good music, not posturing and the vague-posting that Scott has been doing.
|
| |
wth is that playable song snippet in the website?
|
| |
Please don't go the Rhapsody of Fire route
|
| |
Whatever that playable song is, the vocals don’t sound like Todd or Geoff….
|
| |
It also doesn't sound like a man. I'm wondering if Scott has decided to form a side project rather than rejoin the band. That....sounded nothing like QR.
|
| |
If that's the case, why the Queensryche 2021 website? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
|
| |
Didn't Scott say that he was still in the band and that we just didn't know the exact situation?
Vocals in that sample almost sound like the dude from Sleeping With Sirens. Copying the text from the player I only get "In a World that will Explode - teaser in" but that's already menacing enough.
|
| |
looks like another split. the 2021 website now shows only Scott, Michael Wilton, and Eddie Jackson as the band members, meanwhile Todd La Torre is selling band equipment online and Scott is putting him on blast for it.
it looks like there's a full demo on the site now but I haven't been able to listen.
|
| |
Todd is also saying he's "not going anywhere" so I'm starting to wonder if we're gonna get yet another version of QR with him, Parker Lundgren, and Casey Grillo.
|
| |
This entire band is just a collection of egos
|
| |
batoushka 2.0
|
| |
Nah
Batoushka was Queensryche 2.0
|
| |
disagree
|
| |
How? Queensryche's first divorce predated Batoushka's by at least 4 years.
|
| |
one simple reason:
this band has been completely irrelevant since 1994's promised land, up until the recent albums showed something of an upswing
whereas people actually liked and cared about batoushka
|
| |
that... doesn't make the situation any different though? and more people definitely cared about Queensryche even when they were "irrelevant" than an underground black metal band from Poland.
|
| |
>that... doesn't make the situation any different though?
i didnt say it was different, batushka were more relevant than queensryche though :]
post-PL queensryche that is, obviously people still like their actual good stuff
liturgiya was huge though, big meme album for sure
|
| |
more relevant on sput and /mu/ and shit, maybe, but QR got way more attention in general during their whole Geoff Tate drama than Batushka during their drama. maybe you weren't very active back then or something but the Queensryche split and Geoff Tate in particular was also a huge meme.
|
| |
fair enough!
i miss when this band was good tbh, they were really good
|
| |
Yeah "FU Queensryche" was the meme of the Metal day back in 2013
holy fuck im old
|
| |
aren't you like 12
|
| |
lmao I wish
the days when I could be blissfully ignorant of the worlds problems
|
| |
i mean you usually still are
|
| |
You seem very bitter that other people have different political opinions than you.
|
| |
Verdict and CH are solid records but I'd rather sacrifice Todd and have Scott back than keep Toddryche going without him tbh. Like, mind-numbingly easy choice for me. Problem is that snippet we were talking about doesn't exactly foster my hype.
Guess I'll just have to wait and see. s/t~PL Ryche is basically a string of 4.5-5s for me so I'll never be able to ignore any Queensryche as long as some of the original members are involved (and Whip wrote fan-favorite solos/stuff too so let's not give all the glory to De Garmo, he deserves the praise but let's not ignore the others)
|
| |
There's a demo track on the site now that is much better than the song that ended up on the album. Also, the site lists the Queensryche band members, and it's only listing the three original members... uh oh.
|
| |
Oh wow the site changed completely. All the text really looks like they want to sell it as the true Queensryche. And that Toxic Remedy demo at least tells us that Todd is involved... I think? Then why are they taking the hardest road to tell us haha, it's so weird. Especially when he is not in the image below.
The demo itself does sound interesting I agree, it's got more edge in the varied guitars and it's so nice to hear his vocals more organically
|
| |
Drama leads to interest, maybe. Whip and Eddie just seem like the least egotistical people to me. I have a really hard time believing that there is another split coming.
|
| |
Also, my goodness did they transform Toxic Remedy for the better. That demo has...moments of goodness that might have become something cool...but for my money TR is the best trach on CH and I'm SO GLAD they went back to the drawing board.
|
| |
Just clicked on that button with the musical note in the player and it opened a menu where you can apparently (haven't tried) buy the demo for $1, and it says "Collection 1 - QR Demos and Rarities" underneath
|
| |
https://www.metalsucks.net/2021/05/23/queensryche-scott-rockenfield-has-removed-todd-la-torre-and-parker-lundgren-from-band-section-on-his-website/
"Queensryche drummer Scott Rockenfield’s new “Queensryche 2021” website, launched earlier this month seemingly without the full band’s blessing, now features a “band” section with vocalist Todd La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren cropped out of a photo."
LMFAO
What are these people fucking children?
|
| |
Is is getting very entertaining but it is sad to see one of my favorite bands become a laughing stock
|
| |
Meanwhile Geoff Tate is having a good time with a successful solo career and doing experimental projects.
He lost the lawsuit but it looks like he made out better in the end.
|
