R.I.P. Dave Greenfield 2020-05-05 by e210013 | 6 Comments | The Stranglers announced that keyboardist Dave Greenfield -- after a prolonged stay in hospital for heart problems, during which he tested positive for COVID-19 -- has died. He was 71.
The Stranglers are a UK band formed in 1974 and emerged with the punk rock scene. They became to be as one of the best and stronger bands of the UK punk rock scene. While their aggressive and no-compromise attitude, their sound always was different, especially due to the use of keyboards, an uncommon instrument by punk bands in those days. Their sound gradually grew more refined and sophisticated due to their keyboardist Dave Greenfield's inimitable keyboard style.

Damn such a sick band was just listening this morning.
| | | I always loved this band. I saw them once in the days of "The Raven". I can assure you that they were a great live band. I particularly liked of the unmistakable and amazing keyboard style of Dave Greenfield. I really think that they were an unique band with a unique keyboardist.
R.I.P. hard Dave. We'll never forget your great contributions to the music as a better world.

| | | man I just saw this, big time bummer. The Stranglers are in fact legends.
Greenfield also co-wrote their best song, Golden Brown, and I believe he also played that iconic harpischord in the song. If i could produce one piece of art as brilliant as that song I'd die a happy man.
| | | yeh Golden Brown is insanely good, and one of a kind
