Refused+BR+Embrace Supergroup

2020-04-10 by Masochist | 16 Comments
Guitarists Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion) and Michael Hampton (S.O.A., Embrace, One Last Wish) have joined together with Refused frontman Dennis Lyxzén and bassist Johnny Temple (Girls Against Boys, Soulside) to form Fake Names, a hardcore punk supergroup in the vein of Dag Nasty and Strike Anywhere.

The band has released a music video for the song Brick on YouTube, and plans to release their full-length, self-titled debut on May 8th, 2020, via Epitaph Records. 28 minutes long, the album "augments their bare-bones breed of punk with a heavy dose of power-pop, cleanly manifested in the band’s bittersweet melodies and abundant backup harmonies," according to the Epitaph press release. Drums on the album are provided by Matt Schulz.

This feels like years of buildup to two phenomenal guitarists finally playing in a real band together,” says Temple. “It’s two lead guitar players who really know how to work together, with such an incredibly fluid meshing of their individual styles, and there’s never a moment where they’re competing over who’s playing the catchiest riff. I’ve never seen a hint of anything like that before.

You can listen to the the lead single Brick on Spotify, and watch the video below:

This sounds like a THPS song, and that's cool. It should probably be 30 seconds longer.

"wow this vid is cringe btw, see how dead the crowds are"

My thoughts exactly.

Sounds better than the last two Refused albums but man how do you bring in dudes whohave worked with Dag Nasty, Embrace, One Last Wish, and Girls Against Boys and make your song ths boring.

And yeah hilarious how dead the crowd is. Not even they could lap this up.
