Weird way for this to end.

i see u with those name changes there papa

unpopular opinion: Hospodi so far sounds better than Panihida

a tale of two tushkas
| |
Will listen to both and will probably continue listening to whichever is good and if they both are then well ok
| |
dumb
| |
so are we allowed to like both Babushkas now or what?
| |
the court says it's fine
| |
Publicity stunt
| |
so strange
| |
look on the bright side, we now have double the Batushka
| |
Interesting how both variations went with the same design aesthetics as Litourgiya. Also did Kryz give up on the Batushka name now, the bandcamp page I found is Панихида by Krzysztof Drabikowski
| |
tbf Bartushka will still be hated till the end. Damage has been done and I believe their release will bomb hard commercially and critically. They will continue touring till someone throws an empty beer bottle and hits Bart in the face.
| |
he initially released it as Batushka, but then got a copyright strike from Bart and had to rename it, cause at that point, Bart was still officially a copyright holder
actually, he still might be.
actually, if he still is, this story posted above has some informational errors
| |
this isn't the end of the case papa.
| |
it is the end of A case, I imagine there are more to come
| |
This was.... Unexpected
| |
I was sitting at the edge of my seat WAITING to see how this would end
*eyeroll*
| |
k I'm confused
| |
Bart won. that's all you need to know
| |
It sounds more like nobody won except the fans
| |
Literally nobody won. Neither band, nor any fan.

Why am i reading here that the court only temporarily granted Bart permission to continue while the case is ongoing? According to this article the case isnt over.
| |
temporarily?
| |
Yes, this article is from today. Sounds like Bart was full of shit and spinning it in a dishonest way, as usual.
| |
you know, for a second there I thought that this story really isn't as one-sided as we all thought, if even the court agrees, but...
| |
two bands with the same name. WHAT
| |
I didn't expect that it would end this way
| |
It hasnt...you should update this article, uni.
| |
already did
| |
So the case ISN'T over?
| |
it sounds like Bart probably just filed an injunction to be allowed to release his album and they said okay
| |

| |
feel the DRAMA
2019 has everything I needed so far: plenty of kickass releases, the new Fleshgod album, the new Deathspell album, THE DRAMA
| |
Even if Krys truly got fucked over by Bart, this has been amazing publicity. Both versions of the band got a huge infusion of attention which should be a great thing going forward, whatever happens. So, kind of a win? They'll both keep making music and the fans can make up their minds. Very interested in how this finally shakes out.

The only reason I even knew about Batushka is because I randomly stumbled upon them thanks to some awesome Christians last year. Now your average 5FDP fan knows about them if they follow MetalInjection, Ultimate-Guitar or similar sites. That has to be a good thing, so look on the bright side. It's also been brought to my attention that a weird, similar thing happened with Gorgoroth. Can anyone illuminate me on that situation? Too tired for google-fu rn.
| |
In short, the mess&drama continues
| |
Well yeah these court-cases don't exactly play out overnight
| |
With Gorgoroth there was an issue with song credits, which is now solved I think
| |
Could you have put that in a more boring way? I want DRAMA
| |
found on metallum:
"God Seed was formed in March 2009 by Gaahl and King ov Hell following the court's conclusion of Gorgoroth's band name dispute.
An album was supposed to be released in 2009 during the Gorgoroth's name dispute. After Gaahl and King ov Hell lost the court battle, they intended to release the album as God Seed, taking the name from a Gorgoroth song.
The band existed from March 2009 to July 2009 before Gaahl left after he chose to retire from the metal scene. King took the songs intended for the first God Seed album to a new project called Ov Hell, with Shagrath replacing Gaahl as vocalist.
King and Gaahl reunited as God Seed in 2012."
| |
God that is such a dry read. I'm sure what happened was way more interesting. I mean, it led to Gaahl probably living alone in a cabin in a forest for 3 years before he got back up on that BM horse. Probably deserves a Hollywood film, but better than Lords Of Chaos plz
| |
Gorgoroth had a similar thing, Gaahl tried to take over the band and Infernus (the only founding member left and the main force behind the music) took his ass to court and got the rights back.
| |
Gaahl tried too hard to take Infernus up the ass. In court.

unpopular opinion: Hospodi so far sounds better than Panihida [2]
| |
[3]
| |
So far, [4], but I'm also digging Panihida.
| |
Not unpopular just plain wrong.
| |
idk panihilda just sounds like aosoth with distracting chants to me, all of the moments in litourgiya that i liked are more focused upon in the two tracks that have been released from hospodi.
| |
Bartushka doesn't even sound like the first album. It's so boring
| |
that's precisely the reason it's not boring lol
| |
The angst I'm feeling about all this cannot be adequately expressed
| |
Why does this only ever happen to bands who wear masks that imitate a sacreligious clergy of some sort?
| |
[2] lol
| |
love this article.
long live Batrueshka

Seems like a blanket statement there moonchild
