New Alexisonfire track

2019-02-15 by Eldar777 | 48 Comments
Following the announcement in the beginning of February, Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire have released a new track called 'Familiar Drugs'.

This is the first AOF music since 2010's 'Dog's Blood' and subsequent break up.

The band haven't made any official statements about the new album yet, but here is what vocalist George Petit got to say about the track:

“‘Familiar Drugs’ is about recognizing you need to make a change in your life, being presented with the opportunity to make that change, and then choosing to do the same thing you always do. It’s about something very specific to me but it can be taken literally or interpreted in any number of ways. Most people have something in their lives they can’t quit: substances, unhealthy relationships, lethargy, self righteousness, a job they hate. ‘Familiar Drugs’ is about choosing comfort over self betterment.”

Check out 'Familiar Drugs' here:

This grew on me after a while... That being said, not the musical direction I was hoping for. Dallas sounds phenomenal

I’m down for more of this direction. Actually I’m down for anything from these guys. I’m just glad they’re making new music. Bonus that it’s actually really good.

sounds like they're picking up from Dog's Blood with that riff which is hella cool, but that EP has such unpredictable and wild songwriting where this is like 85% a few lines repeating. like it but hope the rest is crazier tbh

One song is not enough to speak of a direction my bois.
Here's to hoping a new album will come fast.

They said in an interview yesterday that this is indeed just a standalone single (for now). They have no immediate plans for a new LP, but there could easily be a new EP or LP in the next while if they find themselves in the right environment to make it. Said that they wouldn't make a new AOF record if they didn't have the time or ability to dedicated themselves 100% to the project.

Kind of a bummer but personally I'm just glad they're not forcing out a new record. I'd rather wait forever to get actual inspired material than a tepid comeback record.

Totally diggin' this.

Didn't realize how much I missed that vocal interplay between George, Dallas and Wade (despite Wade having a very small amount of vocals).

Ohh fuck I would be so disappointed if Alexis EVER came back with Crisis 2.0 lol. They did that sound and did it well, that's enough. I hope they continue with this tone.
