Jakub Zytecki Departs Disperse

2018-11-30 by Thompson D. Gerhart STAFF | 11 Comments
Jakub Zytecki has announced that he will no longer be a part of progressive metal outfit Disperse. Zytecki, frequently heralded as a rising star and guitar virtuoso, founded Disperse when he was just fourteen years old and contributed heavily to the group's three LPs: Journey Through the Hidden Gardens, Living Mirrors, and Foreword.

Zytecki has cited an overabundance of commitments, exhaustion, and current focus on solo work as his reason for exiting the group. It is not known whether or not Disperse will continue without Zytecki, though he has left that decision up to the remaining members and given his blessing to the group to continue without him.

Disperse has never felt too far apart from Zytecki's solo works (I think he's been heavily involved in writing for all of their albums), so I think I'll be fine listening to his solo material. That said, I really liked the vocals and more open atmospheres of Journey Through and Foreword, so I'm hoping he'll find some way to keep those aspects going.

Damn. Disperse was great and I'm not sure how they could continue without him.

Man, too bad. His work on the last two Disperse's is fantastic, and I think he was one of the main songwriters too

Unpopular opinion, I think he's a better vocalist than DispersE's actual vocalist. Also, I don't like Zytecki's solo work as much as DispersE.

good. he did most of the work on their first album (a lot of it was just his solo material with vocals) and they went to shit after that. onto better music for zytecki.

Not sure there's anything left of Disperse without Jakub's interesting guitarwork. Seems like that's the majority of their appeal.

To judge just by Foreword, this guy is one of the few modern virtuoso's that has a magnetically unique approach to guitar writing so this has to be a painful move for Disperse in every sense.

Jakub Zytecki is what made Disperse so unique. I can't see the band finding a suitable replacement for him, given how unique his style of playing was and given that he was the primary songwriter.

Saw and met these guys a couple years back, Zytecki is an incredible guitarist, they’re all great musicians in fact, but I feel like Zytecki shines enough on his own that him only doing solo work from now on will be enough for me.
