rest in peace Oli. he honestly shaped my taste and experience with music more than almost any other artist, with All That Remains only being the second heavier band I ever got into and his guitar work being my main draw to them in the first place.

I may not care for the band anymore, but The Fall of Ideals was huge to me in high school. They happened to be the first band I have seen in a smaller venue. Excellent guitar player, RIP.

It looks like the new album might actually be good, thank god he at least went out on a positive note. I would have been way more sad if Madness was his last album.

And Toon, that makes sense. But it's like we haven't gotten a lot of future information about what approach LP will be taking, y'know?

no real details but the death has been ruled accidental. apparently they found him in a creek near his house, so probably drowning. fucking sucks.

Sucks no matter how it happened, but it's still nice to hear that it wasn't yet another overdose.

I know it concerns no one other than his family and possibly friends but I definitely want to know the details. Being found in a creek is too suspicious.

"I took guitar lessons from Oli for a few years when I was a teenager, at the music shop in Agawam. I was never a very good player, but I sure was in awe of Oli. He was such an amazing musician with incredible talent and an excellent ear. I could bring in a CD and he would teach me any song I played for him, even if he had never before heard it. He taught me all the tools and building blocks to be a good player, and conveyed the information in a simple and easy to understand way. I had the privilege of hearing and watching him shred on the electric guitar at our lessons, but also got to hear him play classical pieces that he had composed, which were incredible, and all other kinds of music. He was always kind to me, and patient and just a great teacher. Super nice guy, humble and down to earth. I listened to some metal and saw All That Remains a few Sunday nights back at the Fat Cat, but his guitar playing that I got to see and hear in that tiny little lesson both will stay with me always, even though those lessons were 15-20 years ago. My condolences to his family, friends, band mates and fans. I’m very sorry to hear of Oli’s passing. "
