Polyphia's "G.O.A.T."

2018-05-24 by SteakByrnes | 34 Comments
Coolest kids on the Instrumental Progressive Rock block Polyphia have released a new single today titled "G.O.A.T.", along with a music video for the song. They haven't said anything about a new album, so for now this is a standalone single.

Listen to the new song here:

It’s like everything bad about Dream Theater and then silica to fill the container. Polyphia is the Taco Bell beef of prog

This is cool. The style isn't surprising after the last EP, but the production is a step up from TMH. The bridge is really cool, wouldn't have minded a bit more melody from the guitars but definitely not a bad song. Seems they've dropped the Renaissance style completely.

Damn instead of the guitars coming in I was expecting ASAP Rocky or some shit to start spitting fire

Muse. The band I was thinking of was Muse.

I really enjoy some of the songs on Muse, but most of their stuff since has been pretty bad. This is awful.

I think this is better than any track on The Most Hated, I liked this

I think if they made an album of songs in this style it could finally be something from this band that I could get behind.

Song is decent. Like most of their stuff, I think it would be enjoyable to her live but I'm not going to listen to an entire albums worth of this pop/prog stuff.

Although i must at admit, this thought "Polyphia hitting some sort of chart success would actually be insane and would change the game so fucking much, for guitars, for real instruments (even though theres trap beats and stuff in this) imagine just turning on the radio and hearing fucking Polyphia played on a mainstream radio (sad that this thought is merely just a pipe dream probably)" had to be said. It's not a bad song, but i probably won't be returning to it all that often

Yeah, I'm digging the fuck out of this.

It has no substance whatsoever but it's a hell of a lot of fun, which the instrumental scene could do with a hefty injection of.

"Do news update for something that's actually worth while"

I mean I love the band and this song is dope, so it's worth while to me. How about YOU make a news article you goon, you have the power to do so

“These guys are pretentious.“

People really need to learn what this word means lol. They make silly fun pop prog. They aren’t touting themselves as the god of song structure and skill

It's not too bad. Doesn't sound as artificial as The Most Hated.

I dig this quite a bit. Yeah, there's not a huge amount of substance to it, but at least they brought back real drums.

This song is great. The drummer absolutely killed it! There's no other musicians doing anything like these guys.
